Justin Timberlake is someone who I have always seen as undeniably talented, however until this release, I was never really a fan of any of his albums as a whole. 'The 20/20 Experience Part 1' manages to improve upon all of Justin's previous work in every way possible, from the production and instrumentation, all the way to thematic devices and songwriting, and all together creates a flawed, but very good album.
The biggest thing that stands out when looking at this album's track list is the ... read more
Prior to this album being released, I was already a fan of Donald Glover's work on 'because the internet', and obviously that being a rap album, I was excited to see what bars he would be laying down on this release. Therefore, when the album opened with 'Me And Your Mama', I was completely bewildered by what I was listening to. I am still to this day utterly in shock with how different this album is compared to Glover's previous releases, and in absolute awe of the mans versatility.

The album that many consider the peak of Rihanna's career. 'Loud' is an excellent pop album, and it delivers wonderfully throughout its runtime.
Personally, I feel like 'Loud' is the quintessential album of "upbeat, fun" Rihanna. From the get go it delivers pop hit after hit, with tracks like 'S&M', 'What's My Name' and 'Fading'. The production is solid, instrumentation is relatively clean and safe, but it works well- and Rihanna's vocals are as good as ever. The only thing ... read more
Rihanna's 'ANTI' is an album of redefining. It is an almost complete stylistic and musical change from Rihanna's previous work, and while I don't feel this is her best ever album, it is still very solid and her change in style is a very welcome one.
As with most Rihanna projects, her vocals are excellent throughout the entirety of 'ANTI', and it is clear to see that the large break in album releases gave time for even further vocal improvements, and so she should be commended for that. As an ... read more
It's been many years since this record came out, and I have only recently gotten into Weezer's discography. Going into listening to Weezer, I gathered that generally speaking fans almost unanimously declared this and the blue album to be Weezer's greatest works to date- and I must say that I agree.
Pinkerton is miserable, but in the best of ways. Rivers and the band hold a strong presence instrumentally, the lyrics are often melancholic, hopeless and just plain sad- and you can't help but ... read more
The potential that this band had was phenomenal. It should be noted that this very album was arguably at the forefront of a revival in modern British indie-rock, a revival that brought to light bands such as the Arctic Monkeys. Almost fifteen years on and this album still stands strong as an excellent piece of 2000's indie-rock, and it has not aged a day.
From the blistering and heartfelt start brought by 'Like Eating Glass' and 'Helicopter' to the more emotionally charged 'This Modern Love' ... read more
It's not completely horrible, but it sure isn't good. The latest full length LP from pop punk band 'All Time Low' really is a disappointment, especially being that I am a long time fan of the band's work.
Other than the singles (excluding the atrocity that is 'Dirty Laundry'), the only other track on the album that holds it's own is 'Drugs & Candy'. Overall the lyrics are poor, production is bland, repetitive and lacking almost anything that would suggest All Time Low were once a ... read more
Before the release of this album, I didn't have a clue who Danny Brown was- that was until I heard the track 'When It Rain', and from that point on I was hooked.
'Atrocity Exhibition' should go down as one of the greatest rap albums of the 2010's, and possibly even the 2000's as a whole thus far. From the production, to incredible lyricism and flow from Brown, 'Atrocity Exhibition' embarks on a journey of madness, a journey that is well worth taking. From the deceptively dark track ... read more
Death Grips really are something special, and this album is an absolute classic.
Get Got. 93/100.
Standout Tracks: Get Got, The Fever, Hustle Bones, I've Seen Footage, Hacker, Punk Weight, The Cage
When done well, the psychedelic-inspired sounds of Tame Impala truly are blissful to the ears, and these sounds are what have earned Kevin Parker's project a large following. On 'Currents', when these moments hit, they really hit. However when they don't the tracks tend to fizzle out into obscurity.
On the balance of things, 'Currents' still manages to hold up as a pretty good record, and if just under half the tracks were cut it would be a truly legendary album. What I mean by this, is that ... read more
The Foo Fighters are one of my favourite rock bands of all time, however when it comes to their albums, often times as a complete package they fall slightly short. With 'Wasting Light' however, this is most definitely not the case. This album is extremely underrated in terms of what it offers to rock music in the modern era, and fans of rock music who are living through the "death of rock music", should definitely give this album a chance.
From the explosive opening of 'Bridge ... read more
The Flaming Lips have developed quite the cult following over their illustrious long career, and there is no doubt that a lot of people became fans as a result of this classic album 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots'. The early 2000's release is the perfect example of telling a story through song, with the instrumentation, lyrics and just sheer imagination invested into this album culminating into a fun, dreamy and intriguing listen that I personally believe everyone should give a go. ... read more
The debut full length LP of Billie Eilish has been highly anticipated by fans and haters alike for a long while, and quite honestly I am perplexed by how incredibly polarised people are on the teenage sensation. People are either praising Billie as if she is the greatest thing to grace pop music, or completely disregarding her many talents and stripping her down to simply being another talentless, industry-plant hack. I personally was looking forward to this record, however I wasn't holding the ... read more
One word to sum up this album is consistent, and it manages to stand up alongside 'Oxnard' as another solid album in Anderson .Paak's discography.
'Ventura' is a very easy album to listen to from beginning to end, offering a very laid back feel and a relatively fun experience. The album never really falls flat, and it also doesn't often reach soaring peaks, however what it does do is maintain a solid pace and level of engagement that keeps you in for the ride, and for that Anderson should be ... read more
I know I'm in the minority who didn't particularly enjoy this record, however as much as I have tried to enjoy it, it's just not for me. Ariana Grande's follow up to 'Sweetener' is in my eyes a step up in quality, however all in all it still doesn't manage to truly impress me.
One thing that has always been undeniable about Ariana is her vocal quality- she truly is an incredible singer. Unfortunately, singing ability does not necessarily come along with good songwriting, and it is in this ... read more
'OK, I'M SICK' is the debut release of American rock band 'Badflower', and it proves to be a sonically pleasing, aggressive and solid beginning to what will hopefully be a promising career.
The album starts off in the boldest way possible with the rather insane track 'x ANA x', which pays off in the long run for many of the themes and musical styles tackled in this album. The band delves deep into many issues such as drugs, suicide and depression, and for the most part they do a pretty good ... read more
The debut album of duo Aesop Rock and Tobacco 'Malibu Ken' is quite simply a fun and creative record that proves to be an enjoyable listen from start to finish.
It may not be for everyone, but if you enjoy some more experimental and wacky music, this might be something you'd be interested in. There are a number of fun tracks on here and the synergy of Aesop and Tobacco is very nice, as they show themselves to be a very formidable partnership that will hopefully release even more of this ... read more
By this point I have lost count of the number of albums that Weezer has released, and one thing that cannot be denied is the bands persistence to release music, despite what many critics of the band may say. This latest release- the black album, is unfortunately one that will get lost in the Weezer discography as one that should be forgotten.
Much like many of their previous releases, the album only comes in at ten tracks in length, and out of these ten tracks only four of them I found ... read more
Juice WRLD's latest record 'Death Race For Love' is the perfect example of the thinking that quantity>quality. After a promising array of singles released in the lead up to the album, I was rather excited to hear what Juice WRLD had to offer on this project, however with 22 tracks, I must say this was a rather painful album to get through.
The best way I could describe this album, is that it is something you would put on as background noise. The tracks after a while all seem to just blend ... read more
Going into this record, I had no clue what 'The Japanese House' was, I just thought the album cover looked intriguing and thought I'd give it a listen- and that was a wonderful decision. It turns out 'The Japanese House' is the project of young British artist Amber Bain, and 'Good At Falling' is her first full length LP.
Typically speaking, I find that albums often open up with the strongest tracks, however 'Good At Falling' seems to go against this generalisation, and I found that the ... read more
