I presaved this like a month ago without knowing anything about the band, just because it looked interesting, and I'm so glad I did. This shit is reallllllly good. There are some stretches where I'm not the biggest fan of the vocals but the production is consistently super textured and well made that I can't help but just sit here and admire it. The first half especially hits so hard, I loved it.

Some things I really like combined with some things I'm indifferent towards makes for a pretty decent listen, despite the partial lull in the middle
Favorite (by a lot): Wave goodnight to me

The disparity in quality between the highlights and regular songs on this album is fucking insane 😠at least the deluxe has a better banger to flop ratio

I know I liked this album a lot on first listen but man it just gets better every time. I don’t really know how to describe it without just repeating the same things I feel like I’ve said about every George album 2015 to now, great atmospheres, consistent sonic theming, fantastic peak songs. It’s really just a testament to how great of a musician George has been historically, how he has been able to make quality works so early in his career, and yet at the same time still ... read more
Man this album would’ve been so much better if it was just George. Not that the project is bad, Nick’s vocals just don’t really fit this style of music that well (for the most part). The production is consistently phenomenal. If George was singing, this would be a top 3 album in George’s discography. Does this stop the duo from making 2 perfect, amazing songs? No, but does it stunt the overall potential score of this album? Absolutely.

Will definitely win album of the year in terms of song title quality. The entire first half of the album is all really nice chill laid back abstract hip hop, but the album kinda falls off in the second half. The production gets slightly worse and the songs in general just get less interesting. I’m also not the biggest fan of the singing (except on rejoinder). But listening to this album front to back is fun, and I’ll have to check out more from Open Mike Eagle cause I think the ... read more
Too bloated and inconsistent to be anything that special. The production is pretty consistently solid enough to keep the album in “good” territory, though my score feels a bit higher than what I actually feel like the album should get because Pi’erre as a rapper on this is not the greatest. Maybe I’ll come back to it. Bon appetit and En ete are bangers though

This is probably the lowest score that an album with five 10/10s on it will ever get from me. Its kinda crazy how fast the album can go from amazing high points that I go back to very frequently to songs that just kinda fade into the background with no real interesting material. While none of it is really that bad, I feel like some of the songs are way too underdeveloped to be grouped with some of the phenomenal songs this album has to offer. The best songs on this album are some of ... read more
A truly special album from George Clanton.

Never really cared much for Lady Gaga, she wasn’t some crazy part of my childhood or anything. Even now, I would go back to some of her older songs and just think they were pretty alright. But this album is some next level shit. Pretty much every single song has great production and great vocal performances with a lot of replayability. The energy of the album is nonstop, the hooks are great, everything about listening to this album just makes me happy. Even at the end of the album where ... read more
There are two main things that prevent this album from reaching the full potential. Firstly, the hooks are very consistently awful. The only hooks that don’t stick out as bad are the ones that are just normal rapping (except POV that shit is so annoying), all of the sung hooks are easily the worst parts of the songs they’re on. Secondly, the second half of the album does not come even close to the run of quality on the first half. The production just becomes much less interesting as ... read more
I have no idea why I like this album so much. I think this is just the exact type of minimalist type pop that just caters perfectly to my taste, and I honestly can’t get enough of it. The tonality of his voice with the (mostly) stripped back guitars is a match made in heaven, I could really listen to it all day. I don’t really dislike any part of any song, this is just an incredibly smooth experience. No complaints.

This actually might be my favorite album of George’s to just listen to front to back. The soundscapes of all of the songs just feel really intertwined, even though the quality of the songs varies a good bit. The first 5 songs are an incredible run of quality that rivals the top song stretches of his entire discography in my opinion, and while the songs after that can have some mixed results, at least the last 2 songs leave the album on a high note. I don’t dislike anything here at ... read more
Even though the album doesn’t start out the strongest, the second half is undeniably his best work (at the time), and up there with his best work ever. I wish some of the songs in the first half were just constructed a bit differently, as none of them except for bits of “Did I Flounder?” really captivated me that much. The album sounds great front to back obviously, but I wish the quality was consistently as good as that back half. Still a very fun listen.

It's kinda crazy how much he improved in just a year. George goes from kinda just throwing things at the wall hoping they'd stick, to being able to really strip back some songs to their benefit. If it wasn't for the random 2 track quality dip in the middle, this would be a pretty smooth quality listen that could rival some of his better works. I just wish Kameron's vocals were mixed better and Clownface built on the intro because that would be two immediate 10/10 songs for ... read more
A bit of a rocky (streaming) debut for George Clanton. I found a lot of the songs to just kind of be unpolished, lacking in vocal or production quality. I think the only song that really gets the best of both is "She's Gone", as pretty much all the other songs have either insignificant vocals, or instrumentals that try and layer way too many things in without really balancing them properly. There are still some cool moments and sounds, and seeing how George got his career started ... read more
