Hints further at the darkness that this project will gradually go towards, admittedly not as memorable (yeah I know the irony of that statement) as the first but definitely feature my favorite track on these albums with The Way Ahead Feels Lonely
A bit more relaxed than the reputation of the most popular track on this first part suggests. Though it definitely carries a sense of eeriness that these nostalgic memories will decay.
Though it was really hilarious when apple music played Who Dat Boy by Tyler the creator right after this album
Emily Montes kept every song under a minute because if she didn’t she would use too much of her power and every rapper will retire because they can never be as good as Emily Montes
Pretty much the point where Charli switched her sound from bubblegum pop to the unconventional club music she’s known for today and this is packed with bangers with damn great production by SOPHIE
Fav: Trophy
Least fav: Paradise (not bad tho)
Shabazz Palace’s debut demonstrates that they can make weird-ass beats that somehow go absolutely hard
I gotta say I hated this song right when it released this isn’t just because it’s overplayed on TikTok I legit hate this song even if it wasn’t playing on the radio 50 times a day just hoping it’s Somebody That I Used To Know but you know it’s not but you hold on to that shred of hope that maybe sanity has been sent to the DJ. Sad to see Doechii rapping about resisting the executives urge to make TikTok music and then after making TikTok music
Quadeca creates a lush dreamscape that can shift from many different tones but still feel like one singular experience
Listened to this so many times by now
The wordplay, the production, everything comes together in this AOTY contender
Short but atmospheric and haunting offering from the terrific Animal Collective guys
Using Wonky influences in its production and Staples’ rapping make this a well-deserved Must-Hear
Unfortunately besides Spacesick and the singles and a couple others I feel like most of this is their most forgettable material since Quarters
Admittedly not bad but I don’t see myself returning to these tracks and shockingly for Peggy, lacks bangers. Listenable but overall one of the most disappointing collabs of the year (at least for me).
Viagra Boys seem to one up themselves with a lot of their releases and with their (sort of) self-titled viagr aboys, they explore new styles such as Psychedelic Rock (Uno II) and mournful folk (River King). They are showing that if they keep this up, they may very well become one of the greatest bands of this decade.
