FBTMOF are like the most 2000s band ever sound-wise, and yet they still pull it off very well.
I love how seamlessly the band blends these weird guitar lines and throat-shredding screams with very melancholic melodies. There's an attention to detail on this whole record that you don't really find in a lot of bands of this nature.
I love screamo
I love post-rock
I live in Virginia
I love City of Caterpillar
The only thing I knew prior about These Arms Are Snakes is that Botch’s bassist was in it, but goddamn, this is some really good sass
I mean, it's very pretty and well produced, but aside from the occasional heavy breakdowns with the return of Clarke's screams, this is pretty boilerplate shoegaze.
The first half of this album is relatively strong, but it falls flat on its face in the second half. It’s almost impressive how there’s still a handful of filler despite this being Ariana’s shortest record
As incredible as this album is, knowing what Alexis Marshall has done, the lyrics feel like nothing more than slam poetry written by an abuser trying to justify himself.
I'm biased as hell but I am incapable of hating anything fronted by Justin Pearson. The dude is in his late 40s and is still able to make noisy, panicked powerviolence with a sassy edge. It's not Locust level but still solid.
This album sounds like if Portishead had more industrial influences. I kinda love it tbh
The sounds that Brian Gibson can create with his bass are still mindblowing to this day. Incredible record
Sounds like if Lightning Bolt had a guitarist. Might be my second favorite Jeromes Dream album.
