My favorite album to have an existential crisis to
A fun, noisy start to the Blood Brothers. it's not even close to what they'd go on to make, but still pretty solid.
It's crazy how, despite the muddier production, this is pretty much an improvement in almost every way from This Adultery is Ripe. The playing is tighter, the chemistry between Johnny and Jordan is much more dynamic, and there's actually a bit of melody on a few tracks!
I'll be the first to admit that beatdown hardcore isn't really my thing. I personally prefer the noisier, faster sides of hardcore.
That being said, though, this is a pretty solid debut from knocked loose.
I physically cannot recommend anything by Daughters in good faith knowing how heinous of a person Alexis Marshall is.
That being said, this debut is fine. 11 minutes of screechy, mathy sass. I’ve heard better albums in this genre and it’s definitely not the best Daughters album. However, it’s fun while it’s on and doesn’t overstay its welcome.
This album has songs on it. These songs are composed within a key signature, and typically arranged in 4/4 time. These songs have lyrics in them that are vocalized by lead singer and rhythm guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, said lyrics being in the English language. Overall, this album does a pretty good job at existing on streaming platforms and in physical format, and if your ears are working correctly, you should be able to hear it.
While I am a much bigger fan of their early post-hardcore days, Foxy Shazam's self titled album is 49 minutes of pure fun that comes and goes in the blink of an eye and shows off Eric Nally's absolutely astonishing vocal range.
OK yeah this one has grown on me so much. While I enjoy the completely unhinged energy on Burn Piano Island Burn a little more, this album shows so much more maturity from each member.
Both vocalists have a much better sense of melody, and the whole band is just much better at creating dynamic performances that go from groovy and relaxed to explosive and noisy.
