This was the last Swans studio album I needed to hear to "complete" their discography, there are still a number of live albums I need to get around to. My expectations for this were low but the actual songs themselves really aren't bad or anything. For me it's the mixing and honestly Gira's vocal delivery that bring it down for me. Why did they have to fade out Soundsection? It's a completely different recording from the one on the final album. I want to hear all of it :( Super solid EP though, and a great preview of what was to come.
Getting an official release of "But I was different" is probably the best thing that's happened all year
Wow, I was absolutely blown away by "Red, Black & Green", it's amazing how cleanly it moves from absolute chaos to pure beauty. The rest of the album is great too, "Astral Traveling" and "Morning Prayer" are my other standouts but damn, that track is awesome. Reminds me of the intro to "The Creator Has a Master Plan" at times.
