Virtual Riot - Simulation

As the first VR album to come out since his previous almost 10 years prior, Simulation was a highly anticipated album for me. I was quite excited for it to drop, and I didn't end up disappointed. Simulation is a energy soaked exploration of modern dubstep and EDM through the bright neon lens of color bass sonics. I do prefer the -sound- of this album to his more recent one, as I am a sucker for color bass. But there are a few more throwaway tracks present on this album. Thankfully, absolutely iconic moments, like the title track's opening synths, the drop of REDLINE, or the soaring vocals of This Could Be Us, make up for the lesser moments on the record.

Now, if the deluxe version additional tracks were on AOTY, I would rate that set of tracks as an easy 95. They're all hella good, and I wish the lesser songs on the original could've been swapped out for these. +1 rating point for the deluxe tracks.

In short, if you like dubstep or just really well produced EDM, give the deluxe album a listen.
