I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this EP. Not that ZEROBASEONE never amazed me before, but on 𝘉𝘓𝘜𝘌 𝘗𝘈𝘙𝘈𝘋𝘐𝘚𝘌 there isn't a single song that left me a bit disappointed compared to the other tunes.

RESCENE have been on the right track since their debut with the fantastic “YoYo” about a year ago. On 𝘚𝘊𝘌𝘕𝘌𝘋𝘙𝘖𝘔𝘌 the group tasted influence from other genres, but on 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘜𝘱, the sound direction is clearer. You can definitely hear Raye's touch on this and I am so here for it. I don't want to compare her work with her group mate, but Lisa might he about to release the best solo album out of Blackpink.

I pretty much enjoyed all the singles so far, but I'm scared the album will end up as a compilation of singles/playlist-ready songs, more than a cohesive project in terms of sound. I think track order will be important for the album flow.

It's a very tender and warm record, but perhaps a little too safe for me. I would have liked some bigger moments, either by blending in some indietronica here and there or by using more engaging melodies. It remains a pleasing listen regardless. My favourite is “All We Could Do”, Kate and Sam's gorgeous voices are so great together.
