070 Shake - Modus Vivendi
80

I discovered her in 2017 quite randomly with "Stranger" which was on a playlist and I liked the cover si I clicked on the song. I'm extremely happy to have seen her grow (yes saying i was here before Kanye brought her to the big light makes me happy). Anyway, I have been waiting for this album for quite a while, Glitter wasn't enough for me and I knew she was capable of more. When I first listened to "Nice To Have" and "Morrow" I knew something big was coming. Then ... read more

Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia

With how more and more pop albums are doing the album thing now, more tracks but shorter and filled with filler songs that aren't really good. Dua gave us an 11 tracks albums filled with bops. Catchy and interesting songs with good lyrics and production which mix pop from the 80s with today's production in the best way possible.

Julien Granel - BAGARRE BAGARRE

Production-wise it's kind of like Dua's 'Future Nostalgia' but with a french man. I had the chance to discover him in 2018 as he was opening for Angèle and I immediately loved his vibe and energy!

LIM KIM - Generasian

This surprised me in so many ways and "MINJOKYO (ENTRANCE)" is one the best intro I've ever heard. Give me more please!!!!!!!!!

Lil Nas X - 7

It's not awful cmon, I do find it fun & enjoyable. Not everything has to be THAT serious okay, it's catchy and fun and that's f*ck!ng cool!

Powfu - poems of the past

This EP is okay and can be kind of enjoyable if you're in the same mood as him. I found out about Powfu in mid-2019 and remember the first time ever listening to his music way before the whole "death bed" trend. And I have to admit that there's some progress but I'm afraid it's all just very temporary and will always sound the same as I don't think he evolved much as an artist and in his production and writing.

Lady Gaga - Chromatica

Okay so, LG6 is finally here and it didn't disappoint me. All the tracks got good lyrics that are not so generic and have really great meaning, it's not just some love song thrown all over the place like we can often deal with in mainstream pop music and I'm here for it! I thought the production was interesting and the album is very consistent from start to finish it takes you THERE, to Chromatica, makes you want to dance, sing and break free. She pays tribute to her electro-pop era with ARTPOP ... read more

Sophie Cates - yikes!

This is filled with many very nice bops! She could definitely be bigger and deserves more attention because the production is quite good and the lyrics aren't boring either.

Deb Never - INTERMISSION
75

I listened to it for the first time right before going to sleep and I really enjoyed it. After coming back to it a few more times, I can say that it's a quite interesting and powerful project. It got a few really good song that I really loved (mostly "last train").

Kehlani - It Was Good Until It Wasn't

It's nice, simple and chill background music but nothing more. I also don't really see the purpose of the skit.

Rina Sawayama - SAWAYAMA

I think more I listen to it more I love it!

Kali Uchis - Isolation
82

Why do I feel like I'm the only one really enjoying "In My Dreams". It was a part of the Skate Kitchen (2017) soundtrack and as I loved the movie I guess it's making me like the song a lot as well.

BENEE - STELLA & STEVE

STELLA & STEVE is a fun and catchy little EP that makes you want to uwu

Jessie Reyez - Before Love Came To Kill Us

I'm just wondering why "FAR AWAY" and "CRAZY" are not a part of this because these 2 are better than like half of the songs present here and also "FIGURES"?? it's only on the album (as almost a bonus track bc "I DO" fits perfectly as a closure song) bc it's one of her best song so far and they need that money and streams)

"@ShadeRD I have accepted the "no-return" of Soojin (her solo debut made it clear), but still I find that they were playing with the fans by hinting at her. I'm not annoyed at them releasing those songs, as it does make sense and every group ends up doing it. It's more about how it's done. But again, I have zero idea of the real situation, what they're allowed to do or not and the making process. Idk if what seems like Soojin's references are intentional or not. I repeat myself but I guess I needed to let that out last night and then thought about it again haha! In conclusion: I don't know anything about the situation and therefore shouldn't assume anything either, because then I'm just creating conspiracy theories, which I deeply hate! 2/2"

"@ShadeRD You're right it's probably just about publishing, performance's rights. While it's true many other groups did that, but they do it in the following months or so, and songs are often put at the end of another album, or without promo. To me it's a little weird that it's done now and not earlier, and I struggle with the way they used her name/image for marketing strategy (it looks like that did at least). But we have no idea of what happens behind the scenes and some stuff take times and are beyond our understanding. In the end we're here overanalyzing something far more complex than it seems. As listeners we only see the outcome and not everything that comes before which can make up come up with wrong interpretation. 1/2"

"@oaaat i'll give it a rest next comeback! dont worry it's not that deep really. the lack of impressive vocals applies to a few other groups primarily made of very young members. newjeans and triples are two other examples of this, but the production and melodies make up for it"
