heavy metal is about everything. its about love, fear, pain, death and existence and everything. I cannot believe these songs exist. I cannot believe these songs have been written. without a doubt, cameron winter is now one of my favourite songwriters. finding out that he's a year older than me kind of made my jaw drop. I had never heard of cameron winter before this. I added this album to my liked albums to listen to at some point since it seemed like my thing, but my god. this album is ... read more
fuuuuuck i wanna tap that glass so baaad.
I haven't listened to much Tyler, actually I haven't listened to an album of his since Flower Boy but I was still excited for this since the way Tyler was talking about it made it seem like it was going to be some party bangers. I've already put this on repeat so I'd say it was a success.
Production is solid and fun while keeping it relatively simple, honestly the cover art matches pretty well with the synths and electronic sounds ... read more
Over the years I'd constantly hear the word 'storytelling' when Kendrick was brought up and I finally understand why. This record lives up to the "A Short Film By Kendrick Lamar" subtitle on the cover art. I've never heard an album that so effectively carved out a story while maintaining the quality of the music here. This is my first time hearing this record in full but I realised that I had actually heard a handful of these songs before because they're just ... read more
mixtape of the fucking year.
jim legxacy returns with a project of banger after banger. 'stick' is an addictive, vulnerable track with a beautiful chorus that sets the tone for the tape in an unbelievable way. 'new david bowie' has a surprising jon bellion sample that jim just nails with the production. i was so fucking hype. like, the guy is just a magician.
the rest of the mixtape continues on like this with highlights like '06 wayne rooney, father and 3x with Dave. ... read more
Enjoyable record. Gave this a shot because I like Ninja Tune and I'm a sucker for a good album cover. Production and the string elements were great. The singing is hit or miss, I liked Otherside and All I Need but the other songs with actual singing didn't really do much for me
Reminds me of early Foals records which I appreciate a lot. All in all I think this is a solid downtempo album that might just be playing it too safe to stand out.
Favourites: Blackoak, II Remember, ... read more
This record feels like a late summer houseparty at your best friend's place. It's hard not to smile when listening to this. There's an intimacy to these songs that is palpable and the spoken word sections on songs like Machine Noise For A Quiet Daydream reflect that. I find it a little funny that there's a song on here called All My Friends. It's pretty different sonically to LCD Soundsystem but I still feel a similar emotion listening to this.
Anyway, there's a ... read more
