Why have I not taken my own life yet?
That's a question I find myself asking every now and then, and one I found the answer to while listening to Vanilla Ice's nu-metal project Hard To Swallow. Before I get to telling you the answer to my predicament, first I need to explain what the deal is with Hard To Swallow. This project, a freak of nature that should not have been made, was made by Vanilla Ice, a freak of nature that should not have been made. There are several, and I mean ... read more
I'm unsure of how I feel about Isaac no longer doing the singing now that he's left the band, but as it stands this album is absolutely gorgeous. The highs are some of the best this year with the only thing I think holds it back are that some tracks overstay their welcome, it is incredible that they managed to put this out while they're still figuring things out. Usually, a band like this would have a less than desirable album as they enter a transitional period where they still ... read more
This is a pathetic excuse of an album made by a pathetic excuse of a person
Production here ranges from "a worse chop of a sample that was already chopped by a better, more popular beat" to "lol lmao"
AI verses litter this thing and, while I'd be abhorred by it usually, I can't find a more fitting inclusion for a project that reeks of soulless slop like this. This is the bar that Ye has set for himself with the only positives being that it is not as obnoxiously ... read more
This album is pretty different from the rest of his discography in that it feels a lot less structured, conceptually speaking. Whereas Bucket List and Care For Me had concepts and stories that followed through every song, and Few Good Things maintained Saba's more storytelling-based elements, Private Collection feels a lot more like a playlist of really good songs. Is this a bad thing? Not at all; every song here is amazing and No I.D. on production works perfectly with Saba's flows. ... read more
Now That's What I Call Hype Moments and Aura Vol. 4
I feel like Carti exceeded my expectations w this one even if that isn't saying a lot, lol. There are some pretty good songs on Music but even at its best I just don't think it compares to some of the highs his other works have. The lows are mind-numbingly repetitive and, frankly, have no purpose being on this album. There are so many tracks you could've culled to get a decent 40~ long experience of pretty great features, ... read more
Ultimately underwhelming but I can't get over how fucking funny and cool Nokia is, if Drake embraced being a sillier creative guy his work would be a gazillion miles better
unfortunately he has to be a sassy chud who can't pull off the swag like that and PND's contributions are neither here nor there in my opinion. cut the tracklist in half and you'd get a much more tolerable album
Catchy for sure and the best thing I've heard from them but I feel like around the 3-4 minute mark it just kinda goes into some random bullshit that I don't care for. I do not know why they felt the need to incorporate little bits and bobs of genres that doesn't really feel like it goes anywhere, but I'm overall happy and could see myself listening to this more often
A solid set of raw, catchy, crunchy industrial beats. While I don't hate it, I don't feel like Siifu himself contributes much to these tracks. Maybe I'm not familiar with his style, but if you cut the vocals and just sold this to me as an industrial beat tape project, I would probably like it way, way more. Almost reminds me of Government Plates given how strong the first half of this project is but I think GP stuck the landing with a bit more grace than this. Definitely ... read more
*the most gorgeous 3 minute long guitar solo you've heard* "Fuck"
It's impressive these guys have been making music for as long as they have. Nearly 50 years of music is impressive, even if a sizable chunk of that was a 16 year hiatus that lept past the entire '10s. With that being said though, this is a really powerful finisher(?) album from front to back. Even if the music can get kind of samey, it's still a really strong powerful sound that makes you feel like ... read more
This album writhes and wriggles in ways that really confuse me. There will be moments where everything makes sense and I understand the parts that everyone else likes, but there will be other songs where I just wish a song or idea wasn't as much of a tiny little tiddlywink of a concept as it ends up being. Something about it touches me in a way feels a bit more personal compared to other music I've listened to in the past. It's ugly, noisy and some parts just feel like half-baked ... read more
You can tell they knew they had HITS on their album but even aside from those obvious highlights, it's still a really fun, catchy & memorable album.
Dreampop isn't my cup of tea but for what it's worth, it's a pretty good album and those frst few tracks absolutely blew me away with how good they sounded.
Really beautiful and underrated album, wish more people gave it a try because you can really feel the emotion on tracks like SOMEWHERE. Real work of art if you're up for the task.
