An album rescued by its top-to-bottom singles, Chappell Roan could do with culling some of her balladry the next time an album cycle rolls around. Still, 'The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess' sees Chappell Roan as one of the most confident and sure-of-herself queer songstresses that pop music has ever seen. Supernovas haven't sounded this fresh since Oasis.
A well-loved album for a reason -- Imaginal Disk deserves the Vince approval as it's an immaculate album start to finish and a perfect encapsulation of what 2020s synthpop should sound like. 2024 sounded unsure of itself before Magdalena Bay dropped their best single off this record, Death & Romance. Highly recommend.
A decently inventive LP from Gorillaz, I feel inclined to bump my score up marginally just for featuring my rapper namesake Mos Def / Yasiin Bey who brings track 11, Damascus, to soaring heights.
A must hear album from a songwriter who has been regrettably lost to time. If you don't feel Last Goodbye in your heart, loop the track again and question your life choices.
One of Australia's recent breakout artists fortunately nails the brief when it comes to his 2026 release.
