Yeah this didn't do much for me, I can appreciate what Vince is doing here, and it's clear that he's a talented rapper, but it just didn't click with me.
Really crazy sounding, just didn't blow me away or anything.
"Children Of Summer" is the only real highlight for me here, the rest of the album just ends up sounding like background noise.
This is one of the most interesting listening experiences I've ever had, it's a sound that is perfectly replicated by the cover art. This is an album that demands you pay attention to every moving part, which on an album on this scale, can be difficult, but this album manages to pull that off well. I was reminded of Cristobal Tapia De Veer's music while listening to this album, especially his work on the "Utopia" season 1 and 2 soundtracks, with the weird mix of electronic music with ... read more
Probably works best within the context of the film, which I haven't seen, but as an album, it works. Marisa Anderson delivers her signature sound well here, even if it is in a significantly shorter project than what I've heard from her.
The best thing about this album is easily the writing, it's crazy in less than an hour, I feel like I know so much about this person, despite knowing nothing about him prior to listening. Also, this album has a pretty unique take on Jazz/Abstract Hip Hop that I haven't really seen replicated elsewhere. This is definitely a case where the complete project is greater than any one song on it. One gripe I do have with the album is that I feel like it starts to lose steam towards the end.
Very pretty, great voice, just doesn't hit the same highs she would reach on later projects
Definitely my favourite release from the duo so far, this feels like a continuation of their previous projects in both sound and concepts. I think this album does falter a bit from feeling a bit "same-y" and a bit repetitive, especially by the end, but that doesn't stop it from still being their best project so far.
Really interesting album that seems really simple on the surface, but as you look deeper, you can see just how much is going on and how many moving parts there are.
The weakest billy woods album I've heard so far, this album felt really forgettable and uninteresting, especially comparing it to the phenomenal "Hiding Places" he released earlier that year. Woods' standard, almost spoken-word style of rapping is still present here, and is probably the highlight of the album for me. Honestly struggled to think of things to say about this album because there really isn't much to talk about.
Dev Lemons hits it out of the park again with some help from Quendrick
While this album is fantastic, I think it's a little too short for how much is going on here.
Delightfully unique
94 --> 100 Probably going to be one of my most streamed songs of the year, it's such an addictive listen, gets better every time I hear it.
Disappointing, especially with the high points I know John Glacier can reach and has reached on her other projects. I still think Glacier is the best part of this album, but the production felt like it didn't work well with Glacier's performance, and took away from some songs.
I wish I got more out of this album, but it just didn't click with me, I think there's a pretty unique concept here, but I just don't feel like I got the full experience from it.
This isn't an album you need to think too hard about, especially considering the music literally wasn't made for humans to listen to. But I do think it perfectly manages to capture the feeling of drifting away somewhere. There isn't a moment on this album that doesn't sound absolutely incredible, and to think that this originally came out in the 70s is mind blowing.
First Listen (1of 2, 12.5.24):
I originally had this as a 96, my score for "Doomsday Blue", easily my favourite song from this year's Eurovision Song Contest, listening to the whole project, is it as good as this song would lead you to believe?
Sadly, no.
I appreciate the different styles Bambie Thug is going for here, but all of them together leave this album feeling really disjointed, also, it's clear that they are better at some styles than others. Because of this, the EP has ... read more
