This didn't really click with me the first time I listened to it, but I realised that, after a few days, I still had some of the songs stuck in my head, so I decided to revisit it. It's insane to me how incredible this album sounds, managing to mix unique production with great lyrics and performance, which also has a lot of replay value.
Even nearly a decade after their first album, I feel like Rage Against the Machine continue to develop and push their sound and the ideas they discuss in their songs further
Incredible, both these songs manage to find a perfect balance between great lyrical content, and being incredibly catchy.

It gets better every time I listen to it
This album is an absolute joy to listen to, with such an ingenious concept that is executed flawlessly. Sound-wise, I was reminded a lot of Verspertine with its very pretty sounding production and almost other-worldly atmosphere. This, mixed with a much more electronic production that appears throughout the album creates a wholly unique experience. The way the writing on here manages to perfectly connect natural phenomena with very real and human experiences is incredible. It's great to see ... read more
While presenting a completely different sound than what else I've heard from them, being focused on simple guitar sounds and less on noise and jazz, this album still manages to retain some of the more manic and crazed elements from those other projects. Honestly, I really enjoyed this project, and how unique it sounded mixed with how basic it sounded.
This being the first project of RiTchie (Of Injury Reserve and By Storm fame) as a solo artist, it makes sense that it doesn't feel as fleshed out as it should be. That being said, I still find moments on this album to be entertaining, and as a whole, I think this album flows really well. I think my main issue with this is that I feel like so much more could be done with what RiTchie is doing here, which honestly makes me excited for whatever else he may release in the future if he continues to ... read more
I don't know how you can make an album like this, there's so many moving parts that perfectly fall into place
This album is very slow (In a good way), it expresses a feeling of warmth that is perfectly reflected in the album cover.
I don't know why I don't hate this as much as I feel like I should, but I don't
For an album released in 2008, this sounds insane. The production reminded me a few times of a few Injury Reserve tracks (Especially on By The Time I Get To Phoenix), and as By Storm with "Double Trio" which, for how those songs sound completely different from everything else being made today, it gives this album, being made over a decade before, feel a million miles ahead of music made around this time. One way I would describe this album is an explosion of sounds in your face, with ... read more
Phenomenal, the feeling of melancholy portrayed here is something I haven't seen many other artists execute to this degree
The first thing on this ep is a 5 minute long track which honestly feels a bit drone-like (In a good way), but then you're immediately hit with a completely different sound with "Clavoline", which honestly caught off guard at first, this however, still sounded incredible, and really shows how they can incorporate a number of different styles in a way which maintains cohesion. The next full length track is much more akin to the typical "Empress" sound. This leaves me wanting ... read more
As with their debut LP, Empress' sound is magical, with this, you can see that they have a clear vision of what they want their sound and the atmosphere that they create to be, and to be further developed on future projects. The one issue I have with this EP, is that I prefer how they execute their sound on their debut album.
