Playboi Carti - Die Lit

Every song is at least somewhat enjoyable with no real bad song tbh. Love hurts probably being the closest to being a bad song. It’s just such a fun album. Songs can get a bit samey towards the latter half but the sound is just so captivating for each song. Very easy listening. I don’t see this genre really breaching anything above an 8/10 for me but I still very much enjoy the highlights from this album.

Edit: 73–>80 album grew on me, love hurts is a really good song

Gonna let this album sit for a bit before finalizing my review but this is how I’m feeling rn.
I honestly enjoyed it, I’ve seen a lot of people online call this his worst album musically but I simply don’t really see it. I enjoyed the instrumentals and the strangeness of it. Ty had the best performances on the album and Freddie had the best verse. This album seems to grow off of people so I’ll see if my opinion changes on it.

Kanye West - Yeezus
89

Experimental, loud, abrasive, this album is hard. Last couple of songs I find to be a bit lack luster but it doesn’t take too much away from the album.
Fav tracks: on sight, black skinhead, I am a god, new slaves, hold my liquor, I’m in it, bound 2
Least fav: guilt trip

Kanye West - Late Registration

possibly ye's best work. Every song on this album holds a special place. Also just some of the best beats ive ever heard in hip hop.
Fav tracks: Gold digger, heard em say, touch the sky, crack music, we major, hey mama, gone
Least fav: Either addiction or roses but both are very good songs.

Radiohead - In Rainbows

perfection as an album. The literal definition of all killer no filler.

Coldplay - Parachutes

I was really let down by how boring some of the later tracks were considering how good the singles were. doesn't take away from how comforting the instrumentation is though. The final track picks things up a bit though.
Fav tracks: Don't panic, yellow, shiver.
EDIT: ive grown on this album a bit since this review. The first half of this album is VERY good, the second half still has that drop off but the instrumentals remain solid. 65->75

Kanye West - The College Dropout
98

Imo Kanye at his peak. An iconic debut that raised the bar of what hip hop could be. Really my only complaint about this album is that the school spirit skits are pretty outdated.

Still this album is hilarious while also being emotional touching. Every song on this album has a place.

Fav tracks: all falls down, spaceship, Jesus walks. The new workout plan, through the wire, last call

Least fav: n/a

System of a Down - Toxicity
95

Easily one of if not the best metal album to come from the late 90s early 2000s scene.

The singles are probably the best songs from this record. I also think that the weakest part of this record are the first 1/3 of songs. Everything after though is a perfect to near perfect song.

Fav tracks: chop suey, toxicity, ATWA, Ariels
Least fav: x or needles if I had to pick.

American Football - American Football

Some very good emo music. All around sound is amazing. The guitar tone is extremely good. I do think the peak of this album is the first three songs though.

Fav tracks: Never meant, the summer ends, Honestly?

Least fav: there’s no bad song but probably Wurlitzer

Aphex Twin - Richard D. James Album

My first aphex twin record. I’ve been meaning to get into them for a while now so I figured I’d start with this album.

First impression, it’s good!
The intro song “4” is probably the best way you could started this album. A genuine 10/10 song.
The problem with that though is that it ends up dragging the quality of the next two songs down a notch. I still do think that Cornish and peak are good just not up to the standard set by the intro track. The pace picks ... read more

Linkin Park - Meteora

Used to be my favorite album a couple years ago when I was just getting into music. Wanted to re listen to see if my nostalgia was the reason for me placing this album on a pedestal.

I’m happy to say that this album has actually held up amazingly. The best parts of this album are Chester’s vocal delivery and also when the band decides to get heavy. Weirdly with this in mind I find breaking the habit to be one of the better songs off this record.

Worst parts of this record are ... read more

Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album)

One of the most consistent and repayable records I’ve ever heard. Greatly influential and this bands all time best effort to date.
