my dad used to listen to this album all the time, i miss you dad, and thank you for everything.
This is his humble beginning. Now I don't know why Token was hated (i do .-.) but his EP was a good look into an aspiring rapper who had influences from other white rappers in the industry. As his style has changed drastically since this project, I go back and listen to this album to appreciate where he came from.
An indie album that was recommended to me by a friend. As an indie lover, I didn't hear anything about this band and was shocked to be surprised by another bi-polar like album. Lyrically, it's indie, so they divulge into weird and non cohesive topics. But instrumentally it's great. All of the songs have some type of jump to them, and with the album being about half an hour long; I'll get Wet Leg a break for their first EP.
I have a confession to make... I don't hate this album. Yes, yes, this album is shit. Don't think I don't know that. But wtf is making me like these shitty lyrics and uninspiring tone... being a fanboy that's why. Oh, and BOBBY+DBATBD are the only songs I hate with a passion.
Every song on this album is a hit. I have little to say, as everyone has heard at least half of the album already without knowing it, which is a feat every artist can only dream.
This album is the first album from MJ as a solo artist, and it should've had more impact. Of course, most of all the lyrics are about love and independence, but that's mostly expected from R&B songs from the 70s - 80s. MJ's iconic high pitch voice is also present throughout the entire album, unlike his others.
I hate this album and almost everything it falls for. It's a dooze to go through as the hyperpopic generic sound, along with not one... not two.. but four interludes that have no substance and only add more humdrum of this album.
A strong debut album indeed. Glass Animals use groovy instrumentals and catchy hooks, which is this band's specialty. It somewhat falls flat towards the end of the album, but the first 5-6 songs (not including Intruxx) leave you wanting more from this band.
A unique cludder clash of different instrumentals and experimental sounds in each song, with some having catchy melodies that even I hum from time to time without notice. Never been a fan of long songs, but this is one album where I can get past that due to the stellar production.
This is one of my top 3 albums of all time. The catchy hooks and unforgettable melodies, and paired with their troubles that occurred after their debut album "Zaba" fuels this weird but beautifully constructed album.
redoing all my ratings to be as "accurate" as it can . 100-> 84
edit 2: i don’t give a fuck about accuracy i love this album and that’s all that matters. 84-> 100
