This is Tyler’s gnx for better or for worse. It’s pretty good at the end of the day, it’s fun and raw and loose, but it feels way more disposable than anything he’s released in a very long time. A lot of the pop and r&b cuts are definite highlights for me. Don’t You Worry Baby and I’ll Take Care of You feel plucked straight out of the late 90s and early 2000s and they sound as great as you’d expect them to. Idk how much I’ll revisit it but I ... read more
I just wanna get my problems with SMILE! :D out of the way: 1. I wish the singles did the album’s full vision more justice. They were amazing, and way dancier than the rest of the track list. I can now say that music has changed my life for the worse.
Gamma could have very well been an 8/10 record, maybe even higher. Unfortunately this was a very underwhelming listen. Gesaffelstein had great ideas in these songs but failed to sufficiently develop them. Aleph suffered from this to an extent but it’s felt much more here. 27 minutes clearly is not enough. If most of these songs were longer than 2 or 3 minutes, they could’ve been unreal bangers. A part of me thinks the promos shouldn’t have gone as hard as they did. They set my ... read more
