What a kick-ass album. It's been a few days since I actually listened to it, but all I can remember is how hard each song went and how the production did NOT feel 26 years old. Her vocals were incredibly strong and she writes very catchy choruses. I usually find it difficult to get foreign language choruses stuck in my head but my god Instinct (本能) has been in my head since Monday. Incredibke stuff.

I was really under the impression that this was a popular album the whole time, because it really sounds like one. I had such a fun time listening to this. Just from hearing the opening notes of the title track I knew I'd love it. Its so joyous and perfect for a calm, summer evening. Detour's verses had a playful feel, and a nicely swung chorus with some call and response vocal lines. No Blue Bird Flies was definitely my favourite. I really loved the rockier feel during the choruses ... read more
Black Lodge type beats. I didn't realise "sophisti-pop" would be such a good description. Really classy instrumentation, a dreamy voice, and ethereal vibes. It has this retro-futuristic feeling to it, especially with Rockin' Back Inside My Heart. It feels like something I'd be listening to in a jazz cafe in a Blade Runner type world. Really lovely listen.

A very fuzzy dream pop experience. I will say I do think it is a bit too drowned out and lo-fi for my usual taste when it comes to music in this space, but it's still got that transcendent quality which I love. Some really pretty synthwork and texturing, especially on songs like Transitional Bird (Clever Girl) and Birth of the Flower (Seagreen). I really got the feeling of frolicking through a meadow while listening to Birth of the Flower, so I think it did its job perfectly. Pangaea Girls ... read more

We admire him as truly great, who in the menacing presence of danger or death, retains his self-possession.
Such indulgence betraying no tremor in the writing or in the voice, can compose a poem under impending peril or hum a strain in the face of death.
