Unfortunately, Declan doesn’t shine like he has shone in the past. He wasn’t the star of the show, too many of these songs are middling, unfinished or directionless. Since there’s talent behind everything, it still is enjoyable and personal. I just wish I could love EVERY song and not just a few.

WOW what a disappointment. I was expecting some sort of obvious thematic twist but this is basic bland pop. There is no character here. I say this as a massive GA fan but i’m let down

I saw them live at a festival on New Year’s Eve and boy am I glad I did.
Mercurial World is one of the best produced albums I’ve ever heard. Bop after bop are lined up for you. Even if you don’t love pop music, some of the tracks here are so infectious they will get to you.

Phoenix’s Alpha Zulu is an enjoyable, well produced indie pop record which slots seamlessly into their impressive discography. In my opinion, the only missteps are with some of the later songs - which don’t hold up to the singles and feel somewhat rushed. In addition, I don’t really think the extension to Identical was necessary. However, I found the album to be extremely fun and wacky in a good way!
