RÜFÜS DU SOL - Lately
78

Far better than Music Is Better but not exactly a return to form unfortunately

Everything Everything - Man Alive
90

So this is better than Get To Heaven

Ice Spice - Y2K!
45

I didn’t expect Central Cee to be the highlight of this thing (other than one masterpiece I won’t mention) but there you go…..

Glass Animals - I Love You So F***ing Much
63

A collection of fall off anthems

Declan McKenna - Zeros
82

At points McKenna is the modern day Elton John.

Declan McKenna - What Happened to the Beach?
77

Unfortunately, Declan doesn’t shine like he has shone in the past. He wasn’t the star of the show, too many of these songs are middling, unfinished or directionless. Since there’s talent behind everything, it still is enjoyable and personal. I just wish I could love EVERY song and not just a few.

Best song: Mulholland’s Dinner and Wine

Crumb - AMAMA
87

Edit: 82 >> 87 obviously it’s grown on me and I don’t fully agree with everything but yeah that’s it…

As a massive Crumb fan and having seen them live since their last album I’m willing to let this grow on me. (THEY’RE AMAZING LIVE BTW!!!)
I think the opening track is genuinely incredible and multiple singles suddenly came to life throughout - particularly the title track… but at this point a few of the tracks are a little hollow; not lifting ... read more

Glass Animals - Creatures in Heaven
NR

WOW what a disappointment. I was expecting some sort of obvious thematic twist but this is basic bland pop. There is no character here. I say this as a massive GA fan but i’m let down

Phantogram - Ceremony
74

Some massive hits and some massive mids but overall worth your time

Dax & Tom MacDonald - Propaganda
NR

This video is like the episode of Black Mirror, ‘Black Bear’… and if you’ve seen the ending this will make complete sense to you

Crumb - Crushxd
NR

WE GAVE THEM THE TURTLE AT A SHOW

Wolfmother - High on My Own Supply
NR

Has to be seen to be believed

Magdalena Bay - Mercurial World
91

I saw them live at a festival on New Year’s Eve and boy am I glad I did.

Mercurial World is one of the best produced albums I’ve ever heard. Bop after bop are lined up for you. Even if you don’t love pop music, some of the tracks here are so infectious they will get to you.

Kimbra - replay!
82

Did NOT expect this from Kimbra. So intrigued to hear more new music from her!

Phoenix - Alpha Zulu
84

So excited I get to be the first to review this album!

Phoenix’s Alpha Zulu is an enjoyable, well produced indie pop record which slots seamlessly into their impressive discography. In my opinion, the only missteps are with some of the later songs - which don’t hold up to the singles and feel somewhat rushed. In addition, I don’t really think the extension to Identical was necessary. However, I found the album to be extremely fun and wacky in a good way!

Highlight: Winter ... read more

Tame Impala - Borderline
95

Bring back the single version PLEASE KEVIN

BROODS - Free
94

As far as artsy electropop songs go, I don’t think you can get much better than this

Phoenix - Winter Solstice
92

MMM I can taste this
