Big K.R.I.T.'s 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time is a double album for the books. This release is a triumph for anybody and everybody involved. It's a wonderfully produced package that's filled to the absolute brim with every emotion, thought, and feeling going through the Mississippian emcee's head circa 2017. Sure, it's a LONG listen, but this project is so worth the time. It's southern gospel and jazzy influences make for a pretty electrifying listen front to back. ... read more
LCD Soundsystem's third album, Sound of Silver, is a constantly exciting listen. First of all, the crown jewel of this album and LCD Soundsystem in general without a shadow of a doubt is the production. There's just so much layers, buildups, and payoffs in almost every single beat. However, with that said, I do love the erratic and borderline bizarre vocal performances and lyricism weaved into this project. They give this release just that much more character. In fact, all of these ... read more
Tracy Chapman's self-titled debut absolutely deserves all the accolades it gets. The laid back instrumentals along with the gentle vocals of Tracy Chapman were so beautifully intimate and captivating. However, I think the star of the show that is this album was Tracy's penmanship. There's just so much emotion and intent behind the vast majority of this project's verses. I find her commentary on racial, class, and relationship issues specifically to be the true beating heart ... read more
DANGEROUS SUMMER is a dangerously great EP. After the relative disappointment that was LYFESTYLE, I’m glad Yeat is pushing his sound again, and to awesome results at that. Both Yeat and the production are both quite versatile on this lengthy EP, but never to a point that sacrifices consistently or quality. In fact, I think this project is one of Yeat’s most consistent yet. The beats are hard, the features are great, and Yeat’s energy is contagiously lively. Sure, I would be ... read more
B4.DA.$$ is classic Joey Bada$$. It's got heart, introspection, and plenty of other deeper themes along with some braggadocios verses and passionate flows resting on top of some jazzy boom bap beats. This project touches on some heavy subjects, notably racial issues, but it's got a pretty warming and comforting vibe to it all. There's tragedy but there's an equal amount of reflection and healing. This album feels like a stream of thoughts and vents, and I think that personal ... read more
While I think Alfredo 2's lows are lower than it's predecessor, it's highs are far higher. So, while it may be a slightly less consistent listen, as a whole, I think this album edges out Alfredo by a decent margin in terms of enjoyability and quality. Freddie Gibbs delivered some really memorable verses on here, and his flows are about as smooth as they've always been. However, The Alchemist is who I think really stood out to me on this release, and it's purely because ... read more
Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist were definitely on their A game with Alfredo, and while it's not really close to a perfect release, at least in my opinion, it's still consistently great all around. Between Gibbs' flows and Alc's production, Alfredo has some of their best work, though I think the beats in particular were it's most impressive aspect. They're simple but so damn slick and groovy. However, that's not to discount Freddie Gibbs. Like I said earlier, ... read more

So, in this series I'm going to be choosing one album, mixtape, or EP from every country around the world and reviewing it. The projects I choose do NOT represent the entire country, so I apologize if you feel I should have done another, and I'm happy to take suggestions. I know that kind of stuff can be a sensitive topic. These were just the projects I stumbled across. Anyways, without further delay, let's get on with the review!
Yeah, Big Dawgs ... read more
The long awaited album Vanisher, Horizon Scraper is finally here, and it is everything I could have wanted and more from Quadeca. I don't think I've heard a single album like this one, ever. There was never a point where I wasn't totally entranced by it's lush and ethereal sounds. The imagery and feelings it evokes are straight up magical. If the goal of this project was to make you feel like you were sailing into some otherworldly plane where you're confronted by a ... read more
I've changed my opinion on End Of Summer more than any other song of his, but now, I kind of love it.
Fetty Wap's self-titled album is about as inconsistent as it could possibly be, with many forgettable tracks and a decent amount of absolute bangers. For all it's issues and bloat, I do appreciate how unique this project is in the land of trap, and how unique Fetty himself is. His vocals alone are entirely unlike anything I've ever heard within the genre. Songs like Trap Queen, 679, and Again are all absolutely iconic. It's just that this album's deep cuts drag it down ... read more
Tyler, The Creator, one of my personal favorite artists, has returned after just nine months with an album you can't help but play front to back. Now, is it his best or an improvement over his last? I don't personally think so. However, for what it is, this project is pretty damn spectacular. It's Tyler showing his versatility as both a rapper and especially a producer. Almost every beat is a club breaker. It's dance elements are electrifying, and it's more west coast ... read more
Nine Inch Nails' With Teeth has got some serious teeth. Sure, it's a lot less experimental and a bit more accessible in comparison to the rest of the NIN mythos, but again, it kicks so much ass. Trent Reznor's vocals are just as wonderfully gravelly and impassioned as the production is grimy and gritty on this project. The lyricism is also textbook NIN, as it reaches into some pretty dark corners of Trent's mind. Now, again, it's not The Downward Spiral, but this ... read more
Headlights, to me, sounds like a parody of Alex G's music. The only problem is that it was made by Alex G. It's a colorless album full of songs that sound stripped-back even for Alex G standards. There's a handful of catchy songs here and there, but nowhere near enough to save what I thought was a dreadfully boring listen. I don't know how, but this project managed to make 40 minutes feel like a long time? Headlights is not an irredeemable album, but there's only so ... read more
I don't really care for the remixes, but the original tracks on here are great! In fact, tracks one and three in particular are so fantastic that I think they should have just been on the main album. They're about as psychedelic as a psychedelic song can be. They really embody everything I loved about Currents from the sweeping synths to the echoey vocals. So, while I will deduct some points from this EP for it's mediocre remixes, the original tracks are so incredible that I ... read more
