Okay okay, here we go
This is really quite good
Kendrick embraces the West Coast on his latest album “GNX”.
Produced incredibly, a rare moment for Jack Antonoff, it captures the traditions of his side of America incredibly. Yet it still feels raw, a contrast to his other albums such as TPAB, a brilliantly written and composed record, but almost feels to polished. Kendrick doesn’t fall into this trap on GNX and works to nearly perfection.

Incredible.
Peggy proves time and time again why he’s the best in the business.
Immaculately produced, every song feels almost flawless. The choice and use of sample is outrageously creative to point I question if this man is real. Songs such as HAZARD DUTY PAY, DIKEMBE!, TRUST!, and WHAT KIND OF RAPPIN’ IS THIS? present themselves as the pinnacle of musical production and creativity, unrivalled in the industry.
JPEGMAFIA’s rapping mustn’t be forgotten as well. Often ... read more
I’m not sure how I’m meant to feel about this.
The production is brilliant. It’s insane and face melting, it’s seriously some of the best I’ve ever heard. The way the drums are produced is comically incredible, it’s outstanding.
But the rapping kills it for me. It’s incomprehensible, it feels almost out of place with respect to the beats. It’s really unfortunate due to how well the record is produced. I do feel issues pertaining to the mixing of ... read more
Overproduced bland garbage
Noel adds nothing to music here. Council Skies is so incredibly boring, the vocal performance is so incredibly bland. There’s not much to talk about here, it’s fucking shite.
This is the greatest song of all time
But in all seriousness, this is Carti’s best verse ever. At no point has he ever flowed this well, nor has he ever sounded this good. The beat is fucking majestic, the weeknd’s opening vocals just adds to this. It’s unconventionally Carti, but suites him so well. The way Carti is able to switch between voices so seamlessly is the icing on the cake.
The Weeknd doesn’t leave without praise! A strong and solid vocal performance. ... read more
Snooze fest.
It starts out strong, it truely does. But fucking hell is this tough to get through.
We need to inform future that having the drum machine turn off and on again on every song isn’t a beat. Some of the vocals feel really lazy especially on tracks like MJ or PLUTOSKI (which itself is not as bad as many make it out to be).
That being said, it starts out strong, the track run up until PLUTOSKI isn’t that bad. LOST MY DOG is also not that bad as well, a good switch up ... read more
Welcome back future
It’s pretty good, happy the album isn’t going to sound like this.
Greep goes hard on this. Vocal and instrumental performances on this track are top notch. Cant wait for the album.
What a month, what a YEAR
Peggy, Charli, Greep, Fontaines, and now this all in the same year.
My jaw dropped on several occasions listening to this, might possibly go down as one of the greatest pop records of all time.
This album, both sonically and lyrically, is outstanding. Incredibly well produced. The funnest record of the year.
This is my first time listening to an album from Magdalena Bay and the first half of the album I found almost jarring. The vocals were the stand out, not ... read more
It’s a bit boring innit
It’s not atrocious by any means, there are certain tracks (especially the singles, along with “taste”) that stand out, but it feels very underproduced. This of course is a glaring issue with Jack what’s his name.
I’ve not got much to say, I did have quite high expectations for this record, I appear to have been disappointed.
98 -> 87, I may have hyped this up a little too much.
My favourite collection of Irish people back at it again with the best thing sliced bread
Fontaines D.C. third album “Romance” is by far and away their best so far. Beautifully written and performed by the boys to the highest extent.
This is the best Grian Chatten has sounded ever, the vocals wonderfully performed and incredibly mixed. The songs themselves present something not seen from the band so far. Written ... read more
It’s alright d’know
Her vocals as always are beautiful, there are some instances in which issues in vocal production do sound. The vocals are certainly the stand out of the record, I do feel if the instrumentation is not as good as of beatopia.
This Is How Tomorrow Moves does feel quite front heavy however. The opening track in “Take A Bite” is the strongest track on the LP, the melody is incredible.
It’s alright.
Quite good d’know
Unlike anything hitherto seen by Peggy as of yet. A wide array of instrumentation utilised across the record, embracing loud booming guitars at the end of the opening track to the polar opposite of finger picked acoustic on “i recovered from this”.
JPEGULTRA! Is top tier
Not a bad record, not bad at all.
When I first listened to brat I remained firm on my stance that Tidal Memory Exo was my album of the year so far.
Hitherto this was the case. This position has since changed.
Brat is one of the greatest albums I’ve ever listened to. Unparalleled production and incredibly emotional song writing, it is (almost) unmatched.
Stand out tracks have been “So I”, a song I am incapable of listening too due to its sheer emotional volume. “Everything is romantic” is the ... read more
Very cohesive and coherent album. Nothing feels out of place and it is brilliantly produced.
Favourite of the year so far
EDIT: no longer by favourite of the year, see my *brat* review.
Ever evolving Claire Cottrill back again with her 3rd album.
The album is certainly a Charm, if I must, beautifully produced throughout the record, with similarly outstanding vocal performances. Clairo embraces themes of love and the need for it. It ventures into a “soft-rock” feel we have yet to see from Claire and it is executed to a very high standard. Tracks such as “Terrapin”, “Juna”, and “Echo” encapsulates everything this record is about. ... read more
I think many of the newer reviews look back on this EP with rose-tinted glasses, which itself is absolutely understandable.
But this is by no means Clairo’s best work. The vocal performance is not great, it lack a certain depth. Similarly, the lyrical performance is sub-par. It’s not bad by any means but it doesn’t stand up to her later projects and other works from different artists.
It’s not bad, but it doesn’t offer much. Clairo has better.
