This is one of the best metalcore EPs I've ever listened too. It feel very cohesive and complete. Which is something I don't usually feel when I listen to most metalcore EPs. The mix is perfect. And this EP leads us to "The Way It Ends" era of this band, with this last track "Forever Marked" when Brian sang:
"We're lost, falling apart again
In dust, is this THE WAY IT ENDS"

This is an album that i listened to on repeat when I was in high school and it was the album that made me really love heavier music around 2018 and 2019. I don't listen to this album anymore but its definitely an album that I look back at very positively and brings back a lot of feelings I felt at that time. Its literally an time capsule for me to reflect on my past.
This album will probably be around a 90 or 100 when I experience grief in the future. Every song hits instrumentally but the lyrics are going to hit when that time happens. But for now, "Absence Persistent", "Immolation of Night", and "False Meridian", will be on repeat until then. My Full Album Reaction/Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVdCxHXFzkg&t=1643s
I think this album is a good example of why the vocals either need to match the energy of the instrumental or the other way around. Vildhjarta type instrumentals (which are amazing btw) and the knock off and awkward Killstation vocals don't work. My Full Album Reaction/Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VstW5dWkD_g&t=17s
This is a album that has incredible atmosphere, incredible art work that goes with every track, and incredible instrumental work that can be very jarring at first but the more you listen to it, it gets better. Personally, what makes this album is a 85 and not a 90 or 95 is the language barrier of this album being Swedish instead of English. I think if I did give this album that proper time, it will end up becoming a 90 or a 95. I love the story telling in their first album a lot and a big ... read more
At first this album was on repeat because I like the mixture of their old sound and their new shoegazy elements they added to this record but very quickly I realized that this album does not have a lot of replayability for me, unfortunately. I honestly think that this band's material in "Heroine" is way better live than listening to the studio version by a long shot. There is a lot of room for Jacob to improvise with this vocals and for the other band members to switch things up with ... read more
This is maybe a hot take but I feel that this is better than the original. Vessel's voice takes this song to another level.
Loathe reinvented what shoegaze music can sound like with this album. This is a lot of different emotions that I get when listening to this album from start to finish. "Heavy Is the Head.." makes me feel like I'm having a mental breakdown. "Broken Vision Rhythm" and "Gored" matches my feelings of frustration about the state of the world. "Screaming", "New Faces in the Dark", and "Is It Really You?" gives me a blank canvas to use the ... read more
This is a album that I check out 4 years ago, and I thought at the time that this album is very cool, unique, and that the lyrics are very neat and impactful. But as this album aged with me, it aged like fine wine. For the past 4 years I've been getting deep into topics around philosophy, psychology, and religion. When I got into a topic that happens to get into a similar subject matter to a song from that album and if I happened to listen to it at the time, that would be the moment when I ... read more
