The new album from Ear is good but not on par with their debut “The Most Dear And Future”.
There are definitely highlights on this album such as the opening songs Coil, Rumspringa, Ne Plus Ultra. But except for these songs the rest of the album is kinda reheating material from their debut. Even though I don't specifically love “Rumspringa” it still has some great moments and ideas that I think need to be more fleshed out.
It's incredible how amazing Fiona Apple's discography is on all fronts and “Tidal” is definitely not an exception. The warmest and just hands down of the most beautiful instrumental moments are on this album. Lyrically Fiona Apple has always been on another level but for this to be your debut album is insane. Her voice and her style has been fully formed since day one. Songs like Shadow boxer, The first taste and carrion are some of her best songs in her discography and ... read more
A pretty good one from Kim Petras. I loved how instrumentally dense and loud it was. I found myself enjoying a lot of the beats and drops more than maybe lyrically and vocally but for the most part Kim Peters' voice just stands out in this kind of production which makes the album stronger and therefore more enjoyable. But I will say a lot of the moments were carried by the beats rather than some other qualities of the album but for the most part an enjoyable listen.
Pretty amazing if you ask me. American Football’s “American Football” is filled with captivating electric guitar riffs accompanied with great vocals and great storytelling. You could complain about the lack of variety in connection to the instrumentals and over all the songs but I think it makes this album more enchanting and gives the album a kind of comforting atmosphere around it that makes me appreciate it even more. All and all a really cool listen I would definitely ... read more
Probably Danny Brown’s most impressive and dark albums to date. As the album goes on you can see a shift in the degraded instrumental and the flat out depressing lyrics that Danny Brown is so honest about. Everything after “Ain’t it funny” is just what makes this album that cultural phenomenon that it is with its distorted and atmospherically dark sound that the instrumentals and lyrics make. The first half of the album is more tame but “Really Doe” has just ... read more
