Positions is Ariana’s 6th album and sadly one of her weakest projects. Ariana is well known for her big pop numbers that are infused with other genres,
the trap inspired 7 Rings and Thank U, Next, the hip hop/pop smash hits Bang Bang and Side To Side(which is also tropical) and on Positions, she chose a genre she is already known for, R&B. The problem with R&B is that its an exact science, you gotta know what you do or it can get boring or even jarring. Ariana did good job on ... read more
Fiona is one of the most uniquely important artists of all time, the way she revolutionised songwriting and opened the door to any female singer/songwriter like Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey to succeed in the music industry. But furthermore, her production and stylistic choices still set her apart from anyone who came before or after her. Her raw vocals and instrumentation on the album make the whole piece so vulnerable and connect the listener with the emotion that is being portrayed, Fiona ... read more
Halsey feels like a good artist who just hasnt made her great album yet, she is a good singer and a good writer but unfortunately she struggles to make a cohesive body of work with artistic vision that really shows her true talent. Its clear that with each album she releases she gets closer to that record, she improves after every drop, her lyricism is a lot better than it used to be and so are her melodies and vocals.
This album is pretty solid, the lyrics are very strong and easily her best ... read more
Phenomenal, monumental, grand and every other word of praise that exist will not be enough to explain the ways I love this album, not every track is perfect but the songs that hit are all home runs. Tracks like Fragments of Time, Get Lucky, Contact, touch and of course the best Daft Punk song, Instant Crush are some of the finest music to come out of the 2010’s. Although there are some misses the album’s importance and impact are undeniable and push it to be one of the greatest ... read more
The album, its just perfect, I know Fiona Apple is one of the most talented artists of all time but I did not expect to be floored by an album this way because its not the kind of music that do it to me, I love dance music, synthpop, this kind of Rock/Jazz/pop fusion is really far off my palette, but when an artist is that good, its hard to deny it, and from the first moment I knew I loved this album I just didnt know I’ll love it even more after every track until the last one, when I ... read more
Ava Max is one of the most basic artists the music industry, the makes Dance music with samples and thats pretty much it. The album is fine, all of the songs are somewhat enjoyable even if the lyrics are incredible corny and simple, really nothing interesting. I dont have much to say, its listenable, no real reason to come back it to it, there are no real details to miss. I dont hate it or think its terrible or anything, its just not very special, fun the whole way through, the beats are nice ... read more
Pop 2 is one of the most important pieces of the 2010’s, this album is revolutionary is ways that still effect us 8 years later in the music industry and has changed what being pop even means, and not only that, its also incredibly good, with some of the finest tracks of the decade, Tears, I got It, Femmebot and track 10 to name a few, are all hyper-pop classics that have immense impact on the genre. Charli has made one of the greatest and most important albums of pop and she knew that, ... read more
Janelle's latest release is a very enjoyable one, it is a much simpler record that doesn't explore many interesting and complex ideas like her previous work. The album is also extremely short' with many tracks being below 2 minutes and serve more like interludes or intros/outros to the adjacent tracks like Black Sugar Beach or Haute. its mostly a fun piece but lacks any substance both sonically the album can be one noted and especially lyrically the whole album there is only one ... read more
There’s not much here, barely feels like music. The instrumental is so light it might as well not exist on the first 2 tracks. Make You Love Me is a nice track, but thats it. The project is also written pretty decent and its really short so its not torture to go through it. Its just not really anything substantial, Really bare bones.
Happier Than Ever is a lot less focused than the previous record but has also improved on some elements. The album is clearly more personal, more revealing, resulting in a lot more touching album, more connected, it utilises Billie’s charm and talent in a completely different way.
Billie is one of the best new artists of the last decade, being able to sing, write, produce and perform comfortably, she was born to be an artist. Happier than Ever is not her best work, but nevertheless, its ... read more
This is the closest album I’ve heard to really be considered worthless but Katy somehow saves it by showing some decent vocals and have some songs being somehwhat fun. i dont gave much to say besides that. Terrible piece, awful writing, uninspired, just really bad, really really bad music.
There's nothing I love more than a well made concept album and as expected Abel knocked it out of the part with this one, the world building, the atmosphere, the spoken interludes that really puts you in this world and make the album feel even more immersive. he really managed to make me feel like im driving alone in the middle of the night on a dark road listening to the only radio station that I manage to receive. I cant even drive.....
The production and mixing on this album is ... read more
Crash is Charli’s most “commercially appealing” album since Sucker, her worst album. Despite that, after everything she has done and learned it is yet an interesting, well made quality pop music. She has masterfully created an amazing pop record that really pulled a giant spin on her career. While some track inevitably dont land as expected because of the differences between Charli’s comfort zone and the sounds here, the album is a while still works, and it works ... read more
Vroom Vroom could be the boldest Charli XCX project ever, with wild production choices and odd melodies that seem like they were pulled out of 2060 music' when people say Charli's music is the sound of the future these are the sounds I think about. Sophie's sounds are very prevalent here, granted she did produce and write on the album but she is so important and her influence is so obvious it feels like more of a collaborative effort then a Charli EP that Sophie just worked on to ... read more
Oh I love Disco so much. This album is great, its just, so much fun. Its not brilliant, Kylie isnt re-imventing the wheel, its just good old fun music. The production is great, its a blast to dance to and is really well made, almost every track is at least pretty good and the album is super fun to sing along to.
Fever is to be honest, nothing special. But its just well made disco music, not a once in a lifetime record, just an enjoyable piece to sing along to while playing games or driving. ... read more
Norman fucking Rockwell is one of the best albums of the 2010’s and contains some of the most thought out, beautifully written and performed songs of this century and some of my personal favorites. Lana Del Rey is one of the most talented people in the industry and everything she makes has some value in it no matter what, but when she comes through with an album that really utilizes all of her abilities to the max, its special, its magical, and it only happened 3 times.
The songs on this ... read more
Speak Now is a great album and one of my personal favorite country albums ever. I wouldn't call myself a country fan at all but I still connected with that album very strongly. Speak Now has captured the magical time between Teen hood and adulthood perfectly and the wide range of feeling and emotions that we go through then. With the angst and jealousy of Better Than Revenge, falling in love in Emchanted and out of love in The Story Of Us, and fear if growing up in Never Grow Up and the ... read more
Chappell Roan's breakthrough is one of the best thing to happen in 2024. Mainstream pop music needed a new fresh talent to bring back fun pop music for a while, there were some people who tried but no one made it as vibrant, fun and well, good as Chappell on "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess". Even thought the album isn't consistently amazing or even consistently fun, it scratches the itch Katy Perry and Lady Gaga used to scratch in the start of the last decade, but ... read more
What’s Your Pleasure is Jessie Ware’s most acclaimed piece on AOTY, and rightfully so. The album is immersive in ways that aren't replicated by most other albums, its cohesion in the productions and vocals puts the listener on a dreamland of synth pop and disco that you just cant escape, the lyrics and vocal layering are pure heaven, songs like Soul Control, Spotlight and Mirage are just bliss to the ears. Sonically, the album is perfect, just perfect, even in general, its up ... read more
Sabrina’s rise to fame with this album rollout was not surprising for me, her singles slowly doing better and better after each release, her performance at Coachella and opening for Taylor Swift at the eras tour. It seemed like the stars really aligned for Sabrina to enter her pop star stage of her career. Short N Sweet is a decent album but tends to be pretty inconsistent and uneven emotionally, after 6 albums I just expect more artistically. The album is extremely simple and is a ... read more
