who cares.
actually some of these are bangers but like not ENOUGH of them are bangers cha feel?
idk man just pick and choose what you want, it’s a fkn dubstep album in 2024.
3. Black Ice - 4.5
they’ve done it again!
catchier than ever, and staying in their roots with just some extra instrumentation. if their last album was Super Mario Galaxy, this is Super Mario Galaxy 2; more of the same, and it’s not a bad thing at all.
2. We Make Hits - 5.0
3. Down by the Stream - 4.5
8. When the Laughter Stops - 4.5
10. Blackpool Illuminations - 5.0 (fuck the other people, this track is pretty cool)
it’s like it’s all the leftover ideas that Taylor and Matt wouldn’t take and he just looped them and put them into songs. it’s surprisingly consistent in that regard. but it’s all, like, unremarkable.
he’s truly meant to write for other people and not himself.
2. Modern Girl - 4.5
8. Woke Up Today - 4.0
this was the longest 20 minutes of my life. yes, the album is longer, but i couldn’t even get through some of the tracks that are less than two fucking minutes long.
listening to this is the equivalent of water color pebbles at the bottom of the fish tank. i think i would enjoy this after, like, a frontal lobotomy or something. i’m so bored. she’s the new Lil Pump, but at least some of Lil Pump’s music back in the day had some punch and you could tell he wasn’t ... read more

3. NO HANDS - 5.0
4. LIKE A PUNK - 4.5
7. THE BADDEST - 5.0 & SOTY
8. OK - 5.0
10. 4.5
it's SO CLOSE to being a 10, it's SO GODDAMN CLOSE.
the last project she had three years ago had some of the most breathtaking indie rock and folk moments i had ever heard. the problem is that they were confined to moments. this easily fleshes it out in such a way that truly makes them shine. the additional whimsical instrumentation, the stern yet exact lyrics, Omakase is perfect, the riffs go hard when they need to, Omakase is perfect, the mastering brings everything out that needs ... read more
get you an album that brings you out of unintentional retirement. this album is ludicrously good.
the songwriting is immaculate, and while the whole album is thematically intertwined, it still stays varied enough to prevent itself from getting stale. the lead vocalist is also ridiculously captivating, and is perfectly mixed with the rest of the band (this is so fkn rare y'all). No Gospel is one of the most magical experiences i've felt in a song in YEARS. literal YEARS. it had no ... read more
this one hurts.
the first glass beach album was a top 5 album of 2019 for me. it was adventurous, transparent, vivid, and overall an incredible experience from front to back. artsy for all of the correct reasons. every time i go back to it, "classic j dies and goes to hell" and "dallas" still floor me from a songwriting and production standpoint. absolutely a gem, and it's worth checking out.
and it's obvious that they tried to continue branching out here. it just doesn't ... read more
Emotional Oranges is always worth a once through because there is usually at least one banger on the album...
...you can guess how that went for me this time around.
if you listened to the last one, you listened to this one.
he occassionally has a song that is an absolute gem. it's frustrating, especially when you consider the amount of faff in the middle of it all.
i want Tom Odell and Joji to make a whole album together so they can have one song on their that's the greatest ballad ever written.
an odd downgrade compared to the last one. sometimes raw can be a bit too raw. ah well.
as consistent as waves crashing on the shoreline. unfortunately, it's only waves crashing on the shoreline.
2. The Tower - 4.5
6. Corner of My Eye - 5.0 & SOTY
10. Peach - 4.0
bestie, i REALLY want to like your music, and i kinda do, i really do, but this just isn't working for me still. please get WILD.
4. Wake To Flowers - 4.5
bro where did THIS come from.
it's really hard for a brostep album to get anything above a 60 for me and somehow this bastard did it. i feel like i live in a simulation. this actually has some heaters with GROOVE. there's sonic consistency. yeah there's still some garbage hype bullshit here and there, and the final third of the album kinda falls off a bit, but where did this quaLITY COME FROM.
