I just can't take this album seriously. I get his approach and think his voice is super unique, but he's trying too hard here to be quirky and different. I would like to see more effort and care from him in his future projects.
Sufjan Stevens simply cannot miss. Just when I thought he would take more time following his also stunning 2021 release 'A Beginner's Mind' to eventually start reinventing himself and experiment with new sounds, he does it on 'Javelin' just two years later, keeping the same soft and emotional songwriting he's best known for.
New York City-based Music collective ANOHNI and the Johnsons, presenting the work of English singer-songwriter ANOHNI, released their first full-length project this year since 2010. Although I was a bit late to the party, I was still blown away by the soulful champer-pop sounds this album is littered with.

A very pretty remake of songs from 'GLOW ON' with fusions of jazz. That remake of "Mystery" is very very beautiful.
