What am I to say about this grand experience of an album. It is everything great about The Mars Volta, mixing Prog Rock with Ambient and Latin Salsa into the musical equivalent of David Lynch film. The amount of cringe is so much I don’t know if I give this a 0 or 100
I really enjoy seeing a Brazilian artist gain such international acclaim. While it's not as consistent in quality as her previous album I still really love it. The sound here is much more funky/jazz based, it reminds me a bit of Sade and of Djavan. I really enjoy how the lyrics deal with themes of gender and sexuality, with Ana really playing into the androgyny of their persona. When Kristin Hayter announced Lingua Ignota was coming to an end I wondered what kind of music she would be releasing next and whether or not I would like it. But now that her new album is released I must admit I’m overall pleased. I'm excited to hear Hayter's new project! At first I was afraid her new I wouldn't her new style, but I gotta say I'm quite satisfied with this. It's a bit more stripped down than her LINGUA IGNOTA music but it's no less impactful.
