It's alright, doesn't give me much confidence in the album. The production side is pretty cool, clearly paying homage again to Kanye, with the sample used on Power showing up throughout the song. Not really feeling the lyrics though, and the chorus is forgettable at best in my opinion. The only cool sounding area to me was Sheck's part. I definitely hope he gets a fair bit of runtime on this album.
For some throwaways that aren't even making it on the album, this is fantastic and a great way to hype up the fan base for the album. Super excited!
This goes SO DAMN HARD MAN! God the vocals from Zack and the instrumentation on these songs just get your blood pumping. If you need an album to make you feel awake, this is a good choice. This album not only wakes you up physically, but mentally too talking about topics such as possible government involvement in MLK's death and drawing parallels to Los Angeles PD (responsible for the beating of Rodney King) and the Ku Klux Klan. Great material here, would DEFINITELY recommend!
Man, the entire time I was listening to this album I was constantly thinking of how hard it must have been to make THIS good of an electronic album back in 2001. The tech just wasn't there for some of the crazy shit we hear now, yet this album feels miles ahead of any competition for the time. I mean this album holds up extremely well today, sounding like it could have came out this year! Just an absolute gem if you want some really good ear candy.
I genuinely felt a need to review this soundtrack. None of the previous soundtracks for the game have really felt "Minecraft" to me if that makes sense. Not to say they aren't good tracks, but they don't feel like they fit in my opinion. This soundtrack is almost perfect to me. I don't want to go out and give it a 90+ since it's so new, but this soundtrack feels like Minecraft to me. I really don't know how to describe it other than most of these tracks have ... read more
Kind of a redux review of my original from the non-Director's Cut. Wow, this album has really grown a lot more on me after almost a year of it being out. I constantly have this on repeat in my playlist and haven't gotten tired of it. I think what really helped change me to giving this an even higher score is the fact that I got to see him perform live with this album and that all of these Director's Cut additions are FIRE (for the most part). Like oh my god, PROTECT THE CROSS and ... read more
Has some great flows and beats and one of my favorite Pusha songs, but definitely shows some flaws. Pusha's flow doesn't fit some of the songs on here, but overall a good album showing just how masterful of a lyricist he is.
I think sonically, this soundtrack is better than Alpha. Nostalgia wise, I think they both are on par, if not Alpha having slight more nostalgia. Both this soundtrack and Alpha were my childhood. Most of the songs off of both soundtracks I would hear almost every day as a kid growing up on this game. I feel like this has been said so many times, but I can't thank enough the team at Mojang and C418 for giving me this game and music to use as an escape from the world. Still to this day, I ... read more
I'd trade a good amount of money to go back to the 360 and hear these songs for the first time again.
What a phenomenal album to end off an era of some of the best written rap songs to date. Without earlier quest albums, hip/hop would not be where it is today, and this album is no exception. From political topics that still echo in 2025 to reminiscing on Phife through songs like Lost Somebody and The Donald, every part of this album has something for old fans, new fans, and people who just want a visionary album to listen to. There is absolutely no song on this album that feels lackluster, and ... read more
The flows of this album feel extremely ahead of its time and the horrorcore beats on here are so bizarre, yet fantastic, even in 2025.
I don't have much to say on this one. This album feels like it was made for just putting on during a beautiful day and just enjoying life. While there are a few songs I wouldn't necessarily add to my playlist, this album is close to perfection all the way through. Stevie's vocal skills are amazing throughout this piece, and the instrumentation on every single song feels flawless to me. Highly suggest giving this one a listen if you haven't, though I would set away a decent ... read more
Prior to listening to the full album, I had listened to most of these songs all throughout my life songs such as Let's Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, I Would Die 4 U, and Purple Rain were the quintessential 80s music I grew up on. I always felt weird not listening to the full album though, since I loved these songs, so why wouldn't I love the entire album. So, today I listened to the entire album and can say with full confidence that every single song on here are all perfect, none beating ... read more
Absolutely stunning body of work from Sade. I had never heard of her or the group before until I found this album of the website. I decided to give it a listen outside and was pleasantly surprised just how beautifully composed this album is and how smooth and silky Sade's voice is. There is not a single track on here that is even close to being bad, all are almost equally fantastic.
Absolutely stunning work of art from Saba. CARE FOR ME was the album that introduced me to this talented poet and what had me really excited for more new work. I was following this album for quite a while before it came out and it was one of my most anticipated for this year after hearing the singles head.rap and How to Impress God. Once we got the album, I knew my wait was well worth it. Saba delivers some of the highest quality deliveries on all of these songs and can change flows so ... read more
Oh my god, man! From the great diss on Takeover to Just Blaze's loud and bumping beats and Kanye's soulful beats, this album is filled to the brim with aliveness! HOV has really great lines in here, my favorite being the filling a whale/well. I'm trying to find something to critique on this, but it is so damn good. I can't give it a perfect score as it doesn't hit with me THAT good, but I really don't have any complaints on this. Another great attempt from Jay that ... read more
Bars upon bars, especially that Cinderella line. Not to mention, this beat is extremely tight, idk what people on this site are talking about. Energetic and terrifying diss coming from Daylyt, you love to see it. I will say, its a little messed up with bringing up Steez like that on the track in my opinion.
