* Basically baby's first "punk" album. Digestible vocals, per usual with Billie Joe, but with enough impolite attitude to push a kiddo toward expanding their listening into actual punk: the sort of nasty music that's above financial aims and which openly despises the status quo. * Wow. Having not listened to this for perhaps a decade, I forgot how muddy the original Caroline Records mix is—or, perhaps this is the only mix, if there isn't a remaster? It's pretty brutal how indistinct Courtney's vocals are; it's almost like the whole sound of it is blurry, out of focus. If it exists, I'll be seeking out a new master; if it doesn't, I'll hope for one. It's still an album I quite enjoy and it'd be lovely to hear all of it with more clarity.
