The album that started everything.
"Music Of The Sun" blends the barbadian mermaid's influences with ease : Dancehall, Reggae Fusion, R&B. The perfect cocktail to introduce a newcomer of the urban scene. At least, it sounds good on paper but...
The main issue with this album is the lack of real striking songs and maybe that's why Rihanna decided to move on quickly from it. Only "Pon De Replay" has real replay value even if some songs are ... read more

Legendary R&B album !
"The Heat" is warm, sexy, sultry, exudes confidence in its sensuality AND its vulnerability.
Classic Toni ballads coupled with more rhytmic and uptempo Urban-Pop tracks that rejuvenized her sound for her entry in the 2000's scene.
The only concern that i have is that 1 more or a ballad replacing uptempo track would've been welcomed. However, this album is still one of the best album from the 2000's and the genre in ... read more

Babe, wake up ! Loreen finally remembered to release her 3rd album.
It's been basically 9 years since Sweden's songstress released her highly acclaimed album "Ride", but what happened between ?
Droplet singles, delays, label changes, 2nd Eurovision win, new-found international fame and probably other things we don't need to know.
With "Wildfire", Loreen clearly wanted to channel the spirit of her 1rst album "Heal" without ... read more

11 years... It has been 11 long fking years since we got a Hilary Duff album ๐ฉ
With "Luck... Or Something", the (real) Disney princess comes back with a Taylor-ish soft pop record that doesn't necessarily break the boundaries of pop music... But it's not like it was the goal anyway.
Unshamely girlie "white" pop with overstuffed lyrics that contains cursed words and... "head" and "porn" ? from Hilary ? Well... ... read more

Finally !
Leigh-Anne's first solo album is here and i'm very satisfied with the end result that is "My Ego Told Me To".
After releasing the excellents "Don't Say Love" and "My Love", Leigh was swimming in a sea full of sharks that not even her awesome EP "No Hard Feelings" could save her from : Her record label devoured her and pretended that she didn't exist.
But let's never doubt Leigh-Anne 'cause ... read more

One of my favorite R&B album !!
After 3 records where she completely sounded conflicted as a solo artist even if the EDM route of her 3rd album "Here I Am" could've been the right lane for her, Kelly decided to get back to her senses and released a 4th (and last ?) album fully R&B.
From the surprisingly electronic Jamie Foxx cover "Freak", to the lead single that doesn't represent the album AT ALL "Kisses Down Low", the ... read more

"The Life Of A Showgirl" by Mrs. Taylor Swift soon to be Kelce (congrats ๐) is by far her most mediocre effort to date and i hoped i was joking.
After releasing TTPD that took me more than a year to appreciate, this new album feels so unecessary in her discography and her evolution as an artist. It's bland, lacks energy, the production feels empty and basic, nothing was sticking to my mind so much that i had to relisten the songs i've chosen as ... read more

Demetria Devonne Lovato, the Monarch of Pop that you are !
"It's Not That Deep" Demi's 9th album is a pandora box of dance-pop songs that reinvents her music in the bestest way since the beginning of her carrer.
Shameless absolute fun pop, this album has been the most exciting piece of music for me since her eponymous 4th album back in 2013 when i was a teenager.
But don't get this album wrong, Demi didn't avoid the emotional touch she is ... read more

Oh Zara, what a comeback !
After releasing her 4th album "Venus" that not everyone clicked with (i did though), she decided to give us a little collection of feel good songs without excluding depth, and everything works in her favour.
It's energetic, flashy, summery, juvenile, nostalgic and uplifting. Every single aspect of this album is about making you feel good and enjoying yourself.
Reuniting with MNEK was probably one of Zara's best decision in a ... read more

I've been waiting for this album for so long and i'm not dissapointed AT ALL ! Yes, it took me some time to fully love it since some of the songs were sounding too similar with other artists : "Where You Are" is like the cousin of that Benson Boone song and "Bonnie & Clyde" and "Sand Dancer" seem like Olivia Rodrigo and Maisie Peters/Sabrina Carpenter rejects.
However, Perrie's immaculate vocals are what makes the ... read more

Well, well, well... It didn't take long for Sabrina to drop another project after the success of her faux 70's disco/country but very 2020's album "Short 'N' Sweet", and maybe that's why this one isn't that much better.
"Man's Best Friend" produced by... wait what ?... not again ! *ugh*... Jack Antonoff and John Ryan, just reheats its older sibling's classic flavoured Lay's to make another festival of ... read more

After more listens, i actually enjoy this album even if my initial review is still my opinion. I still think her music lacks identity but what can i say, i'm a sucker for basic pop ๐คท...
EDIT 2 : Ok i like this album. I keep thinking that the sound isn't pushing any boundaries but that's fine, Ava isn't aiming for that. What i changed my mind about is that she has more personality that i thought, she has a sense for pop music that i'm finally understanding. ... read more

Identity :
noun: identity; plural noun: identities; noun: identity operation; plural noun: identity operations
1. the fact of being who or what a person or thing is.
Now that we have the definition of this word, what's Sabrina's identity ?
Because listening to that album gave me no answer.
Objectively, there is no bad songs in it, i've heard bad songs and they don't sound like "Short N' Sweet" but none of these explained to me who ... read more

I really don't understand the rejection this album had experienced, "GODZILLA" is such a classic The Veronicas album : dark tones, strong solo vocals and harmonies, catchy choruses, "in your face" production... Every single ingredients or this album is quintessencial The Veronicas.

After the "return to source" but somehow pretty basic "Smile", Katy opted to lean towards the queer/underground/stantwitter crowd with the eurodance influenced "143", an album that has been presented as fun, light and focused only on positivity and love. Well... It is about that but is it focused ? Not really.

For her 10th studio album, Taylor opted for a chillwave/ambient/synth-pop moody and dark album about her intense thinking in her sleepless nights and it worked well in her favour.
What i really liked in this project was the constent flowing but kinda heavy atmosphere especially in some of the tracks like "Midnight Rain" and "Vigilante Shit".
In termes of vocal performance and production, everything is at its place but i wished it would've been a ... read more

It took me more than a year but here we are... I like TTPD.
On it's release date, on my first listen, this album felt so empty and asepticised, the songwriting wasn't doing anything for me and the Jack Antonoff production felt redundant.
But a few days ago, from out of nowhere, i decided to give it another chance and now i think it's a good record with a lot of variations (more subtle than the previous albums), her vocal performance is always getting better ... read more

"Homogenic" is the 1rst Björk album that i listened in full and i'm very surprised of how much i enjoyed it. I like alt and underground genres but Björk's music always felt too out of reach for me.

After the massive success of "Flowers" and its parent album (my fav) "Endless Summer Vacation", Miley came back with her 2nd most experimental album so far. "Something Beautiful" wasn't made for everyone but that's why its beauty shines so much.
Miley's voice has become an instrument of its own and coupled with that 70's psychedelic-rock/90's house production, it makes a perfect match.
Is it my favourite Miley's ... read more
