Five Finger Death Punch - The Way of the Fist

I think had I listened to this album for the first time with 2026 ears I wouldn't even finish the album. However this was an album I had on repeat back in 2007, we weren't very emotionally intelligent back then in the days of dramatic Myspace posts and hot topic shirts with edgy writing on them.

I also think some of the rating here has to do with some political affiliations of the band and I get that but I don't think this album is truly that bad even if it might not be your ... read more

Lil’ Keke - Don't Mess wit Texas
93

One of the best hip hop albums to come out of Texas. Great production and hooks. Keke isn't the best lyricist but he brings a strong mic presence.

Biosphere - Substrata
92

Cold, creepy, sinister and depressive.

2Pac - R U Still Down? (Remember Me)

A double disc of pac music from his bay area stint. One of my favorite pac albums, I can understand why it's not a favorite of most but that raw bay area production and pacs energy is addictive.

dead prez - Let's Get Free

I was a 15 year old white kid in the suburbs In 2003 when I first heard this album. Back then this kind of political talk wasn't as easily accessible and this album was revolutionary for me. Greatest political hip hop album of all time in my opinion.

Erang - Tome I

I really enjoyed Erangs album 'Within the land of my imagination I am the only god' which came out two years after this so it's a bit of a bummer that this one just doesn't work for me. The sounds are a bit stock sounding , the production sounds very amateur and the songs are more like loops that don't fully develop. On the positive side it shows how much this artist grew in two years and I'll be sure to check out some stuff of his that came out after 2014 but this ... read more

Agalloch - The Mantle
87

Let's get my least favorite part out of the way ; the vocals.
When the vocals are typical metal screaming or growling it's fine. But the spoken word like vocals are just cringe inducing for me and reminds me of that kid in highschool that tries to sound creepy and scary and ends up just making everyone roll their eyes. And then there is the standard clean vocals which also arent very good and could have been omitted. Luckily those moments are over quick enough and I think I can ... read more

MONO - Hymn to the Immortal Wind
86

Great record full of beautiful atmospheric post rock and modern classical. The highs are extremely high but there are some lows. I find the climaxes are sometimes the weakest part of the track along with the end of the songs. The build up is always wonderful though and I highly recommend this to anyone that likes that atmospheric emotional sounding post Rock

X-Raided - Psycho Active
73

It's good horrorcore/gangsta rap but honestly knowing that he wasn't actually just joking and really did the crimes does bother me a bit in my old age. Back in the day this was my shit though.

Various Artists - Now That's What I Call Music!

Some great hits and then some absolute snoozers that I don't even remember existing.
