Prince and The Revolution - Purple Rain

Prince's sixth LP in his discography. Really the record that boosted his fame and status as an artist in the world. Before this record, 1999 was his best commercial record to date but the production wasn't as polished or clean compared to the luxurious, extravagant, cinematic, flamboyant, one of the most dramatic and romantic albums you will ever hear in your life with this record here. This record was accompanied with an additional feature length film to give a broader scope of what ... read more

For it's time I think this record certainly was cutting edge in how this how album is produced. I honest to god thought this record was recorded in the 80's and turned out was released on 1974. I think that's saying something that I though this record was an 80's album. Genesis is one of the first prog rock band to progress the genre to what we know as rock till this day. Genesis was always this quirky, odd, even pretentious in times that comes with forward thinking ideas. ... read more

I don't really know how to interpolate this record that would sound all that appealing to people who don't normally hear music that's not a pop song. Songs that are made to be appealing and lovely sounding to reach to as many people as possible to listen. Songs that have a catchy chorus, and iconic riff, lyrics that are lovely that become earworms. This record has none of that. has nothing that would be easy for people to follow and downright abrasive the record at times. This ... read more

I think this record has redeeming qualities to it. The sound the band managed to conjure is great and is so great it spawned a whole new genre. That's a feat for a band of white guys who are just in their feelings which is a vibe I can get by. The problems for me are the record's lyricism is cringy. I know usually emo kind of songs are typically are but my man could write better than this. His singing as well isn't all that appealing to me and I find him as a vocalist just sup ... read more

My first review of a Radiohead album. This record is many things to Radiohead. It was a complete departure from what already was their biggest hit "Ok Computer". A record they were playing with a lot of different guitar tones and adding some electronic sounds that were sleek, futuristically predictable, and was their biggest artistic statement commercially. They had that then ignored what worked and from the ground up rebuilt themselves a new sound with even more electronic tones ... read more

This has got to be one of the greatest metal records of all time. Each song on here is just fantastic. Even the interlude track "Losfer Words (Big 'Orra) is pretty great as a build up to one of my favorite metal songs ever "Flash of the Blade". At this point for the band, they found what works for them. They have a singer who's their iconic front man Bruce Dickinson to have appeared on almost ever Iron Maiden record. He first appears on as well one of the greatest metal ... read more
