For it's time I think this record certainly was cutting edge in how this how album is produced. I honest to god thought this record was recorded in the 80's and turned out was released on 1974. I think that's saying something that I though this record was an 80's album. Genesis is one of the first prog rock band to progress the genre to what we know as rock till this day. Genesis was always this quirky, odd, even pretentious in times that comes with forward thinking ideas. ... read more
I don't really know how to interpolate this record that would sound all that appealing to people who don't normally hear music that's not a pop song. Songs that are made to be appealing and lovely sounding to reach to as many people as possible to listen. Songs that have a catchy chorus, and iconic riff, lyrics that are lovely that become earworms. This record has none of that. has nothing that would be easy for people to follow and downright abrasive the record at times. This ... read more
I think this record has redeeming qualities to it. The sound the band managed to conjure is great and is so great it spawned a whole new genre. That's a feat for a band of white guys who are just in their feelings which is a vibe I can get by. The problems for me are the record's lyricism is cringy. I know usually emo kind of songs are typically are but my man could write better than this. His singing as well isn't all that appealing to me and I find him as a vocalist just sup ... read more
My first review of a Radiohead album. This record is many things to Radiohead. It was a complete departure from what already was their biggest hit "Ok Computer". A record they were playing with a lot of different guitar tones and adding some electronic sounds that were sleek, futuristically predictable, and was their biggest artistic statement commercially. They had that then ignored what worked and from the ground up rebuilt themselves a new sound with even more electronic tones ... read more
This has got to be one of the greatest metal records of all time. Each song on here is just fantastic. Even the interlude track "Losfer Words (Big 'Orra) is pretty great as a build up to one of my favorite metal songs ever "Flash of the Blade". At this point for the band, they found what works for them. They have a singer who's their iconic front man Bruce Dickinson to have appeared on almost ever Iron Maiden record. He first appears on as well one of the greatest metal ... read more
Before Kanye had his schizo, mentally fragmented record that is "Life Of Pablo". Tracks that are focused on a particular vibe through out the record. A depressing low, A toxicated high, and other vibes is what this ODB record is. I'll be honest, this record is incredibly impressive of the lengths it brought in the Hip-hop game for it's time. I wasn't around in the 90's but damn, like this shit is Death Grips way before Death Grips was Death Grips when everyone was ... read more
An average record with some of Joji's best songs but also his worst. Not a record I wanna listen to all the way again. Also, such a short record. Feels like a vanity project to me a bit. Just the highlights for me on this one. And yes "Glimpse of Us" is an incredible song. The most toxic man in the world became a musical artist that made an incredible ballad. Still lookin' forward to what Joji will do next.
A boring, meandering record that puts me in a sleep. I also regret purchasing this on vinyl. It's indie rock that tries to hard to be interesting. Every song here I felt the same and no song comes to mind that I found memorable or I thoroughly enjoyed. I pass on this record >:c
Regret buying this on vinyl. Any big Kacey Musgraves fan wanna buy a copy from me, contact me at my email: [email protected]
It's not one of the worst albums I've heard. It's generic as hell pop music. There are some decent songs but not enough for me to wanna go back to them.
Prince's sixth LP in his discography. Really the record that boosted his fame and status as an artist in the world. Before this record, 1999 was his best commercial record to date but the production wasn't as polished or clean compared to the luxurious, extravagant, cinematic, flamboyant, one of the most dramatic and romantic albums you will ever hear in your life with this record here. This record was accompanied with an additional feature length film to give a broader scope of what ... read more
There are a few albums where I feel that it is more than just music. A spiritual experience or a calling out to a higher power and knowing what is beyond the realm of life and purpose in everything. That is this album to me. I know that to a lot of people they have albums where they feel they are connected to the music, emotionally experiencing all the way through with it, and being one with the music. A holistic experience to a lot of people. I never really felt like that with music in my ... read more
Maybe my favorite Pink Floyd album. It changes on the mood on how I feel about what is the best Pink Floyd album. On certain days it's "Wish You Were Here" other days it's "Animals". For being the last great Pink Floyd album, they came out with one of the most physiological albums of all of all time. So psychological makes me feel like I'm apart of this mental degradation abyss this album carves out in the human soul. This album in a way is among one of the ... read more
An R&B throwback record for me. It takes the sounds of 2000's club music production in this record and add a sensual style to it. That's why I like FKA Twigs music for me. The fact that she has a certain sensual style that's very hypnotizing in her music is alluring to me and makes me wanna come back to her albums more. As an R&B artist and a pop artist. I think she found a sound that was more pop centric out of all of her albums here. I've only listened to this and ... read more
Björk's third LP in her solo career. And it is a hell of a record to listen to. Björk incorporating electronic music and classical music together sounds like that's stupid and impossible to make it sound compelling and not sound like a mess. She did not do that and did way more than just classical and eletronic music on this album. She poured her like entire if not most of her soul in this record. I read in an article that Björk wanted to make a record that was very ... read more
I love this album. although there are some songs I don't particularly like nor do I care for in the greater scheme of David Bowie's discography as a legendary artist. I think "Changes" is one of the most wonderful songs ever written as well as "Life On Mars?". And the album just keeps going with such great songs. "Oh! You Pretty Things" is a lively fun tune that I can always put on having a great time. "Eight Line Poem" is a laid back kinda ... read more
God this album is so beautiful. I can't understand the lyrics all that much in this album but I feel that I really don't need to. Though it would help my enjoyment more of the LP. Man the production is wild here. So many layers of sounds and effects on each instrument and the vocals man. I feel personally Elizabeth Fraser is heavily underrated as a vocalist when it comes to massive music publications. One of the greatest pop records / art pop albums period in my opinion. My favorite ... read more
This album is a vibe. Love how atmospheric the record makes you feel. like you really are in a supermarket, but in like a retro kind of supermarket in the 90s or somethin'. With it's own jingles in certain sections of the store. You wanna listen to an album that's good background music with chill vibes and nostalgia, then this is the album for you then. My favorite song is the freezer section song.
I'll admit, I wasn't crazy about this album when I first heard it. Because everybody talked about this album like it's gods gift to music, the amount of legacy and praise this album has surfaced since it's release. Since The Beatles were still a band and this was their last album ever to make. The fact that I learned that this was their last album really put me into perspective about the band and what they were trying to do on this LP. They had already made game changing ... read more
This album is one of the greatest albums of all time. One of the most passionate albums ever made. A self conscience album about what the state of the world was for it's time. Talking about poverty in ghettos, racism, Love for everybody, Love even in the romantic sense in Knocks me off my feet, Stevie's feelings on how wonderful having a daughter is, Stevie expressing his love for music on Sir Duke. I could go on more about this album. All in all, wonderful album. You'll never ... read more
