My favorite Lee Morgan album, it was reissued in 2021 and the audio quality is fantastic. Older versions go for hundreds of dollars but this is better sounding and much more affordable.
Maybe the years biggest surprise, my only complaint is that’ it’s not long enough, a 12” 45RPM but the music is freaking great, “Hidden Sense” was the catchiest tune of the year.
Not his best album but I love Neil Young, and what’s subpar for him is better than most other artists best in my mind. Favorite track is “Don’t Forget Love”.
Body/Head’s (Kim Gordon & Bill Nace) debut LP was great, but the addition of Aaron Dilloway takes it to a whole Nother level. If you like music that’s a little bit more experimental, then definitely check it out.
One of my top favorites of the year, they have that jangle pop/ dream pop sound down perfectly, and it’s on slumberland Records - just an awesome label that rarely misses
Spoon’s debut, and close to my favorite release by the band. Probably affecting my view on this band releases is the fact that I used to see them a lot when they were much younger and a newer band, beginning in the late 90s,, and yes they were more raw but I certainly enjoyed their earlier records much more than their later albeit more popular records. This record has a great edge to it and it’s organic and “don’t buy the realistic” is a classic spoon song, and ... read more
Literally my favorite album of all time, and I’m guessing I’ve listened to it at least 500 times. It’s the only album I can think of that I would not change a single thing about, every song is great, the sequencing is perfect, I’ll never get tired of this record. It also has the best opening song of any record I’ve ever heard. Favorite tracks are “thank you for sending me an angel”, “the big country”, and then all the rest too.
My favorite Night Beats album, it’s not ground breaking but it’s fun, and more than any of there records makes me look forward to their next. It’s the kind of record that you’ll think of often, turn off the record you’re listening to, and put this on. And it’s on Fuzz Club, which has a pretty good track record in my world. Favorite track is Stuck In the Morning.
This is a 2021 reissue (courtesy of Vinyl Me, Please and it’s one of their best releases because the album is wonderful, and the quality of the releases is just great). This album was initially released in 2005 and won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album, but the vinyl version has been in short supply due to a limited pressing and it suffered manufacturing problems, which resulted in the initial release on vinyl going for hundreds of dollars on Discogs etc.
So finally we can ... read more
Courtney Barnett just seems to get better and better and I love this new record - again one of the best records of the year
A new band to me, I just picked up this record a few weeks ago but it is really fantastic with several outstanding tracks that make this one of the years best records.
A great live album from the early 70s just released this year, the sound quality is amazing and the track selection is great and it’s Neil Young… What else needs to be said?
Probably my favorite album by my dad is dead which is a band that made several fantastic albums, this one seems harder to find but my favorite tracks are “the bigger picture” and “too far gone”.
My favorite album by Spacemen 3 and that’s saying a lot, one of the greatest bands of all time that made one of the greatest albums of all time.
This is an incredible album that I had overlooked for quite a while somehow, finally got my hands on a vinyl copy and it just blows me away. One of my favorite albums of all time. “Makes No Difference” is a beautiful yet devastating song (lyrically).
Trappers Cabin has been releasing records for 20 years, this is his 14th album. While most of his discography is great, this is his best yet, favorite tracks are The Road Back, Little Rabbits, Brighter Days & The Luckiest.
