THE most soul-crushing, dread-inducing fucked up electronic dark post rock drone gaze thing MASTERPIECE,,, with some post punk absolute bangers on the side. what the fuck ./ undeniably cemented as a top 2 album for me (of all time. It's a shame that Telephony and The Future were included on the final version, but Sisyphus (100/100) and Basic were left out ughaaaghhh, without them + with the unreleased songs (basic needs mastering ttho) this shit would be all killer no filler uncontested ... read more
peak little ep composed of 3 nearly perfect songs, all of which are some of Giles Corey's best material. The atmosphere and vibes are immaculate, i just wish it was a bit longer.
Winter's House - 95
Guilt Is My Boyfriend - 95

comparing the remix to the original:
Helena --- sounds better for the first 10 seconds but falls off hard
Give Em' Hell, Kid --- i like the remaster a bit more
To The End --- a more spacious mix but the chorus just loses all the noise and grit the original had because of it
You Know whthtihiwoatioaijotoai Like Us In Prison --- the guitars are too muted on the remix, original's a bit better, although the intro and the solo + buildup work better in this mix

probably their most coherent album since White Pony. feels much more curated than any of their previous work. the second half is slightly better, although the album is overall very very consistent. sadly, the writers were also pretty consistent in slacking the fuck off, not much of the lyrics carry a lot of weight, sometimes they don't land as strongly as they should, and their simplicity contrasts with the album's incredibly dense and thoughtful production. every song has something ... read more
And All That Could Have Been is the best Nine Inch Nails song, a top 10 song of all time, one of the most moving things i've ever heard, soft and yet harrowingly heavy, gut wrenching and comforting, beautiful, like soft rain after a heavy storm, peak trent reznor core, if the song had a dick i'd suck it, and so on and so forth
the other songs are also some really nice ambient, sadly the loud vocals on some of the covers don't make for a very peaceful listening experience which ... read more

Black Brick laid the bricks (!!!11!1!!) for what this album would become, and while it's not PEAK peak deafheaven in my opinion, as this heavy soaring black metal style doesn't resonate with me nearly as much as their dreamy blackgaze, i appreciate it nonetheless. the final two tracks, WInona & "The Marvelous Orange Tree, are in my opinion their best work since 2013 (forgetting that Worthless Animals from OCHL is in fact real for the sake of the argument), and are my ... read more
