Great debut of the biggest and most influential pop artist, lucky star and bordeline are true bop, we see the influence of this album in several current works that are inspired by the aesthetic and sound of synthpop and dance-pop of the 80s.
Best: Bordeline, Lucky Star, Burning Up, Holiday, Think of Me, Physical Attraction, Everybody.
LOONA is one of my favorite groups and I was really looking forward to this comeback, it took me by surprise because I didn’t expect anything like that, I love the Girl Crush concept and I really wanted to see them doing something like this but here they didn’t deliver their full potential, I believe it can become their biggest success to date and I’m very happy about it, but I didn’t like it so much unfortunately, the chorus of "So What" gets to be ... read more
Slayyyter is like a combination of Britney Spears and Charli XCX, and there is no way to go wrong with a mix of these, still with a lot of identity with foot in the pop music of the 2000s and the current bubblegum bass, Slayyyter is a good debut and a letter from entry by the artist, a promising name among underground pop artists.
Best: BFF, E-Boy, Mine, Celebrity, Daddy AFF, Touch My Body.
The singles are very average and the rest of the tracklist from medium to bad, did not captivate me at any time and nowadays I barely remember what I heard here, album without salt and quite forgettable, generic R&B from the 2000s.
Best: Most Girls.
Mediocre and very tiring, it has a cool purpose but the record sounds so childish and does not execute its proposal.
Best: Heart Attack, In Case.
After the acclaimed Emotion the expectations for what Carly would do next were high, and Dedicated does not have the same brilliance as its predecessor, but Carly manages to deliver us a good album nonetheless, the first six tracks are incredibly good and the best of record that then goes on having a fall with uninteresting and ineffective tracks.
Best: Julien, No Drug Like Me, Now That I Found You, Want You in My Room, Everything He Needs, Happy Not Knowing, Party For One, Too Much.
Loud was a real hit, not just a bad pop record to please a large audience but full of powerful pop and R&B songs and powerful vocals like Only Girl and Complicated, one of my favorite songs from Rihanna's repertoire, Loud is sensual and very captivating.
Best: Only Girl, Complicated, S&M, Skin, Raining Men, Man Down, Whats My Name?.
2019 was the year of Twice, after the last EP "Fancy You", they come back with the great "Feel Special" a synthpop title and very symbolically lyrical, the member Mina had to move away from the group promotions due to the anxiety that started to have on stage, "Feel Special" fits perfectly in this situation as a way of supporting Mina, “Get Loud“ is a great dance floor track, almost vogue and high fashion, "Love Foolish" is the best B-Side of ... read more
GFRIEND's most personalityless work, but as much as the track Fever was not to everyone's liking, I liked the title and its tropical house beat, but as a whole it is a very frustrating mini.
Best: Fever, Smile, Mr. Blue.
One of the biggest names in Brazilian music currently on his first album does not live up to all expectations on him, "Dona de Mim" has good songs like "Ginga", the smash hit "Pesadão" and "Bateu" but not falling apart of the record it gets boring and uninteresting.
Best: Ginga, Pesadão, Bateu.
Four is still an album about teenage cliché loves, target audience public of the group, choruses with sticky choruses that their fans would die from singing along at their shows, but Four is more sophisticated sonically than their previous albums even though it is a work aimed at the public teen, they play with pop rock, electropop and basic folk, the group and their team fulfill the purpose of delivering a good album to their target audience.
Best: Fool’s Gold, 18, Night Changes, ... read more
Fifth Harmony's first album is packed with lyrics of self-love and self-confidence amid Dance-pop and R&B sounds referring to Mariah Carey and Destinys Child classics, "Reflection" was a triumphant start for girls after The X Factor.
Best: Top Down, Boss, Like Mariah, Reflection, Sledgehammer, Worth I, Everlasting Love.
Ariana Grande's second album features the production of names like Max Martin, Zedd and Ryan Tedder and a lot of musical partnerships, "My Everything" established the artist as one of the greatest pop stars of her generation, providing incredible numbers, the album is also an attempt at artistic maturity in relation to her first album, even though a good debut was still just a dreamy girl who sang some R&B songs and constantly compared to Mariah Carey for her voice and musical ... read more
Miley Cyrus returns to her country roots with Younger Now, successor to her experimental and psychedelic project "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz", reviving herself with a lighter persona without major controversies that marked her album Bangerz, she seems to try to make the singer white of traditional music happening here, right after criticizing Hip-Hop after enjoying this genre and culture in the past, Younger Now does not captivate, it is not interesting and as much as reeventing ... read more
Beyoncé's sixth studio album has as its main theme a betrayal committed by her husband, Jay-Z, the album opens with the minimalist "Pray You Catch" produced by James Blake, questioning the betrayal in his marriage, moving on to the second track, "Hold Up" is about loving someone and not having that feeling valued and reacting to it with a lot of anger, like in the clip that it breaks everything with a baseball bat, the song is a mixture of Reggae and pop, and has ... read more
After the successful Nevermind, Nirvana released her second and last studio album In Utero, right on the first track of the disc "Serve The Servants" we realize that In Utero will not follow the same pattern as Nevermind, the disc opens with a more aggressive and dense, "Heart-Shaped Box" track inspired by his relationship with Courtney Love shows us a little of the couple's problems, the track was the first single on the album and a great success, "Rape Me" is a ... read more
"Caution" fifteenth unprecedented album by Mariah Carey is one of her best works, Carey sought a team of current music producers to bring a modern and cohesive R&B record, following the line of her predecessor, the lyric part of the album too it is very well done, addressing themes of love, sentiment and sex, I also highlight the vocal performance of the artist who still shows this point.
Best: GTFO, With You, A No No, Giving Me Life, The Distance.
Leaving the electropop and ballads dated aside, Tell Me You Love Me has a very mature R&B and Pop Soul sound that matches perfectly with the artist, with few allegories with her voice, often opting for softer songs without exaggeration, here Demi finally won, I hope she explores more of that sound in future releases.
Best: Tell Me You Love Me, You Don't Do It For Me Anymore, Daddy Issues, Lonely (feat. Lil Wayne), Cry Baby, Sorry Not Sorry, Games.
Confident is a very timid evolution in Demi Lovato's discography, it's not even a good album, at least listening to it today, 5 years since its release it became a very meh album, it doesn't mean that in 2015 it was a good album, but you could swallow one song or another that sounds really bad today, Cool For The Summer and Confident are still good tracks.
Best: Cool for The Summer, Confident, Father.
Album that only Demi's closest fans will really enjoy, because it is embarrassing to hear.
Best: Give Your Heart a Break.
