Adept - Blood Covenant
90

Adept, oh Adept how I've missed you. 2025 was truly a crazy year with a lot of bands I love that have been inactive for quite some time all of a sudden deciding that 2025 was the year they'd come back. Adept, Get Scared, & Sycamour. Adept is a special band where nobody sounds like them but at the same time they bring in a lot of similar elements to be found throughout this genre whilst putting their own twist on it and fully making it their own. This album is the musical ... read more

DON BROCO - Nightmare Tripping
NR

don broco taking everything that made them unique on previous records while ramping up the heaviness and even including elements of shoegaze & nu-metal at times

Full review soon

Moodring - death fetish
NR

the nu-metal elements on this record are through the roof, more so than ever before. I feel like this is a perfect continuation of the last sound of the EP but starting to get into new territory, this sound definitely isn't for everyone

Before I Turn - Immoral and Malevolent Happenings

Before I Turn is a band I've always struggled with in the past, in theory I should've been SO into this band. Theatrical elements mixed in with metalcore absolutely screams my name. Lovelorn is my favorite thing I heard from them up till this point, Shattered Moon especially being a track I loved. This album suffers from awkward ... read more

Lost In Hollywood - Lost In Hollywood

I found this band back in 2024 with the release of their debut album 'The Beauty of Death' I had only decided to listen to it thanks to the cover art. This is one of those bands that can make great songs but I feel struggles to create a cohesive body of work. I will say right off the bat this album is a lot better than their debut, this record they are going for a bit of a heavier approach while still blending in their electronic & pop elements from their debut. They got signed to ... read more

Foxblood - Whalefall
91

Whilst I'm waiting for Foxblood to drop their new album this year I thought I might as well give their most recent record a review since I haven't done so already. Foxblood is a band I discovered back in 2019 with the release of their album Grief & Mercy Sleep. Ever since then I've been hooked with everything this band provides. Some of the most unique lyrics written in this scene and I could even say the same for the sound signature they have. Chris brings a unique tone that ... read more

BTS - ARIRANG

How is this a real album that got released this baffles my mind, we’ve somehow hit a lower point than Dynamite…

Sleeping with Sirens - An Ending In Itself
NR

They really locked the fuck in ever since How It Feels To Be Lost

Vesta Collide - New Obsession
90

Anytime someone asks "what's one band that dropped an amazing album then completely dipped after" this is THE band I think of. They literally dropped one of the best modern metalcore albums from the 2010's and decided to call it quits after that, members went on to do other projects such as Max Santoro being a part of Thousand Below. This album blends perfectly crafted elements of 2010's risecore breakdowns with a lot of modern touches intertwined, the cleans are also ... read more

SYCAMOUR - Indulgence: A Saga Of Light
86

Sycamour is yet another band I was itching to come back from the trenches and they came back last year along with Get Scared, I was over the moon. I used to listen to them a ton back in 2018 when I discovered them, this album was on heavy repeat at the time. Decided to revisit this album today so no better time than the present to give a review of it. In my personal opinion this is one of the best sounding Theatrical/Theater Metalcore albums I've ever come across, the production elements, ... read more

Get Scared - Demons
100

Get Scared is a band I was kind of late to finding out about, I had only discovered them back in 2018 and of course a year later they would drop their last album (for the time being) and go onto a hiatus which nobody knew why or what sparked it. Finally in 2025 they announced they were back and I was THRILLED and I'm so eagerly anticipating the new album they're working on. A couple weeks ago this album was finally pressed for the first time on vinyl and It was the first thing I saw ... read more

Dead Air Divine - The Answer
86

I'm going to be honest I kind of forgot to listen to this one for awhile. I've always been a fan of Tilian's vocals just for the sheer fact that it's mind boggling how a human being can have this kind of vocal register. I loved him in Dance Gavin Dance and I like a decent amount of his solo stuff (most not being my type of music sadly though) Back in 2024 when he left DGD I didn't know what he was going to do next whether pursue his solo career full time or create a new ... read more

The Veer Union - Reinvention
82

Definitely their best work by a mile, The Veer Union has always been a band to me that makes good songs but not good albums, every album of theirs has multiple skips. This one is different as it has a more consistent sound and definitely feels like they finally locked in their new sound.

TRACK REVIEWS:

My Empire - Pretty cool song to start off the album, definitely has that Arising Empire metalcore sounding structure but the chorus is pretty cool and the addition of Glen, the screams are a ... read more

The Gloom in the Corner - Royal Discordance
88

Been a hot minute since we last got an album from this band. Trinity marked their new sound (imo) with their Cinematic soundscapes and the emphasis of strings & piano being incorporated. This band has always been underrated with the quality that their music provides and I hope with this release they get a ton of attention. Every single detail from their storyline, to instrumentals, vocals, structuring. Everything about this band's musical perception is thought through and through, and ... read more

ERRA - silence outlives the earth
89

Take me back to 2020 when I was really beginning to find my taste with 90% of bands I still listen to to this day. Erra being one of them, I forgot how I discovered them but I know I had decided to listen to 'Snowblood' when it dropped that year and I was BLOWN away purely by Jesse Cash's belting high signing combined with his technical guitar riffs & leads. That Self Titled album is still one of my all time favorite albums to this day, pure perfection. Fast forward to 2024 ... read more

Varials - WHERE THE LIGHT LEAVES
NR

this is literally just a wall of sound for the entire album, every song sounds the same

Midwinter - Is There Anything You Want To Say?
86

Add Midwinter to the list of amazing discoveries I've found this year. This is another band I knew was around but would always forget to check out, Breakthrough Records announced the first vinyl press for this EP and I decided that would be the perfect opportunity to finally check them out, as they've been on a ROLL lately pressing bands in the scene. I feel like I got into them at the perfect time, as they just announced their debut album as of April 6th, literally for the following ... read more

Wage War - SONG OF THE SWAMP
NR

tbh, while still good this just feels like a "shit we really missed the fans with Stigma lets just make the heaviest song we can to win some people back" type of song. Would be more hyped if this was for a full album but its not

Above, Below - I Guess It Was Nowhere
88

Above, Below is a band I knew was out there but never really gave the time of the day to check out. Mostly because I just always forgot to. They have been absent for quite awhile then out of nowhere we seem to have a new album after 7 years! (2019 being 7 years ago makes me fucking sick) Before jumping into the album I saw almost everyone calling this album a masterpiece and praising the living fuck out of it, I tried not to let them hinder my expectations though. It's clear to see where ... read more

Trash Boat - Even If I Never Get There
81

Definitely a lot better than I was expecting, I seem to be in the minority that absolutes adores Heaven Can Wait and thought that was easily the best thing they put out. Their pop punk stuff just sounds like every other band that rode the wave of "nostalgic pop punk" in 2016. This EP is kinda like a post hardcore inspired pop punk EP which is definitely more interesting than their earlier works.

It still has a bit of that heavier feel with Tobi's screams still present but ... read more

I feel like they are masters in their class when it comes to choruses and hooks, they have a new record coming out this year but it's unannounced i would also recommend their second album Monarch to you, its way different to this album more focuses on electronic & pop elements with modern hard rock elements being utilized"

On ZEDburnsRED's review of Foxblood - Whalefall
"@ZEDburnsRED I highly recommend checking out their debut album The Devil, The Dark & The Rain. Whalefall is basically a continuation of that sound but with a slightly better mix. Grief & Mercy Sleep features a different clean vocalist and tom (their guitarist) doing the screams, that album is incredible too but a bit of a different sound. Dissociation Vacation is very jarring it's like, alt/pop rock while blending in some slight heavier elements, easily their weakest material but still not bad at all"
On Yokai's review of Siamese - Home
"Joga is actually a cover of danish artist Bjork so thats why it's the weakest song here haha"
