Oh Puma Blue, what is there for me to say? I adore this man's voice, he creates just the most utterly vibey songs, he's Chet Baker reincarnated. I want to be him. This is one of my favorites of 2023....even if I heard it in 2024 (shhhhh)
It's just that bit better then Bright Green Field! I listened to the albums back to back to get a good discerning of my feelings of both, and this one came out on top. Swing (In a Dream) is something I heard in 2023 but didn't get as deeply into as I probably should've. That, the Blades and Siphon Song are really the standouts here for me. If you like Black Midi, you'll probably like this. If you like For The First Time, there's a decent chance you'll like this one too.
