As Kendrick Lamar once said, "I like AJR with the production I don't like AJR when the writing sucks"
Expecting to like this since AJR's writing was actually good on The Maybe Man + 60/100 user score probably means good
Besides the trash "Kay, i'll never piss on the carpet again" verse, the writing is good. And I like the folk direction this takes. The production isn't as over the top, which was surprising considering it's AJR. Good EP.

Freddie's dropping a new ep on the 6th anniversary of Alfredo. Cool. These are good performances. Freddie has a pretty strong pen game. Don't got much to say. Oh yeah, this was my first impression of Freddie outside of like two songs. Maybe I should listen to literally anything since it's apparently all extremely good.

"One thing I am always proud of is how The Beatles' songs were so different from each other. Some other artists found a formula and repeated it. When asked what our formula was, John and I said that if we ever found one we would get rid of it immediately."
It's crazy to think that the Beatles' debut, Please Please Me, released 63 years ago, and yet we're still getting new music from not one, but two Beatle members. Paul and Ringo's careers are essentially as ... read more

First impression of Vince, not disappointed. Dark Times is deprived from any filler, making a short but great listen. Vince is pretty introspective and has great flows. Also really liked the melancholic production and gloomy atmosphere. Thx for recommending @jhisanyuthrgyutrnju close enough to the @

"Drake struggles to connect with 21 Savage as much as he does women on the duo's first full-length collab." what a banger of a critic review
During summer of 2022, Drake dropped 'Honestly, Nevermind'. Nobody likes it, but one good song came out of it; Jimmy Cooks. And it was a good enough song to get people wanting a full collab project from Drake & 21 Savage. And that's how Her Loss came about.
I'm gonna start off by saying the production is great. Even ... read more

BREAKING NEWS, THE FIRST SONG MADE THE PLAYLIST, ABSOLUTE SHOCKING STUFF
No shot, AJR made a good album. I said in my Neotheater review that AJR has every base down except for their horrible writing, and here, there's still rough patches where they fall back into old habits, like 'The DJ is Crying for Help' & 'Steve's Going to London', but alot of the writing here is actually coherent and as a whole, good. It's ... read more

I'm genuinely shocked at how good this is. 25 years into their career, Weezer managed to sound as good as they did in the 90s, if not better actually. The instrumentals are on this are so good. Adding an orchestra was an amazing idea. The writing on this is also great, and even when it gets a bit strange, it still sounds so good. There isn't one complaint I have about this. Well, I guess every song wasn't a 100, but ... read more
this has convinced me that Mac DeMarco can do literally anything and it will sound good. He can use a rusty pipe for a guitar solo and it will be the hardest shit i've ever heard
wait the first song isn't that bad
oh but the second song is garbage, alright then. sorry for thinking this had some hope
Alot of this is boring, and the sound is dated. There's still some decent moments on this though. Also some revolting ones, some of which genuinely sounded like Tom MacDonald.

You know when something has such horrible feedback, you get curious? That's how I got to listening to this instead of ICEMAN. This is gonna be a listen of sorts.
I heard Cheetah Print on drop-night, and it's Drake's worst song. 0/100. So I know two things about this album; it has Drake's worst song, and was made just to get out of his label deal. So no matter what, this is gonna suck. It isn't gonna defy my expectations of it being garbage.

A random selection of solid throwaways.
Hammer to the Heart is actually a really good song and ended up being on the Part 2 of I've Tried Everything But Therapy, so that's pretty cool.
Apple Juice is such a goofy, but fun song. I love it.

I don't know how to properly review jazz albums beyond "fun" "enjoyable" shit like that, so i'll just say John Coltrane is an amazing jazz artist that deserves all the praise he gets.

thx for the recommendation Shayden
I got interested in listening to this because I really liked the singles.
So the front-half of this is pretty good. The singles, 'Lose Control' & 'The Door' are highlights. Good writing, great vocal performance, pretty damn catchy to the point both songs are stuck in my head. Another highlight of that same essence is 'What More Can I Say'.
The back-half is contemporary, and not much of it sticks. Kinda generic and Teddy Swims doesn't really fit the ... read more
the autotune isn't horrible on this but still brings it down from like an 8/10. the production is pretty good still, so yay
The soft lo-fi instrumentals paired with Daniel Caesar's beautifully amazing singing (and great voice) make for a great R&B-Soul infused album. This is great throughout and especially amazing around the middle. Thanks for the recommendation ember.
