The Happy Fits - Concentrate
65

Too many forgettable tracks for its own sake. It might be just me, but the songs with the most inticing lyrics end up being the ones that sound the dullest. I like the opener very much though, it takes creative liberties that are very much rewarded. I think they do a decent job at the overall "upbeat" ones. The ending song is also pretty interesting.

The Dare - What's Wrong With New York?
79

You bitches are taking this way too seriously. Fire.

First two songs are fire. I'd dance them like crazy in the club. Now the other ones are... very loud and strained. Did not enjoy.

twenty one pilots - Clancy
85

The pen mastery demonstrated by Tyler throughout this album is astounding (what happened to the proctologist again?). Everything has multiple meanings and relates to both lore-based songs and non-lore ones. Honestly, Clancy provides a nice ending to the Blurryface era, showcasing improvements in the character's mental health and dealing with both the necessity of conforming to living with mental health issues and the rebelliousness of having to confront them all of the time. It does have ups ... read more

Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
100

OH
MY
GOD

The way Billie just goes through different stages, kinds and perspectives on love and obsession. It's interesting how the album starts with her talking about how people view her as being "happier now", hence her last album, "Happier Than Ever".
This is art. I am glad to live in a time where I get to hear Billie Eilish. Everything is SO COHESIVE and yet never tiring, always bringing up something new to the table.
Towards the end, it is possible to see within the ... read more

Conan Gray - Found Heaven
79

Conan attempts to break out of his shell and it works. It's an interesting twist and I absolutely enjoy many songs on here. Just WHY. WHY make so many singles Conan? He picked and chose the literal best songs of this album and released them on their own, leaving the rest (which are pretty good still) to compete with the singles, with the high expectations to match with the quality shown in the songs previously released.

While attempting a new twist for his classical Teen Pop style with ... read more

Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS (spilled)

Pretty solid extras. They add songs that seem to fit well with the overall sounds of the album while also at times bringing new references to the table, with folky country tunes showing up in "girl I've always been" and "stranger". It only adds one song that did not exactly sit well with me, which is "scared of my guitar". It just feels like a generic 100th Taylor Swift song.

Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS

Fun! Love the punk-rock, love the cooled down ones also. The songs that are agitated are just too exciting and the chill ones are very personal and would feel rude to skip. There are some songs that feel forgettable though, like "pretty isn't pretty". It's an interesting continuation for SOUR, but I prefer her debut, since I just consider it simply pop genius. She definetely has talent and a good mixture of references, I'll give you that.

Clarice Falcão - Monomania
90

Vamos fingir que Fred Astaire (English Version) não ocorreu. MEU DEUS. A Clarice é extremamente ... read more

Billie Eilish - WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?
94

This was such a satisfying listen. Not a single song out of place. I do understand people that are not fond of Billie's style of whispery singing on this one, but I don't feel bothered whatsoever. In fact, that's part of what makes this debut album feel so unique. I mean... It's about reflections and questions we make before we sleep, it makes artistic sense for the songs to be sung with mostly unbelted whispers.
I believe this album makes for such a switch to the pop industry, with the ... read more

Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever
92

Every song in this, to a higher or lower degree, manages to make feel what they aim to. Such an interesting arrange of melodies, with Billie's angelic voice switching to a belted one everytime it seems necessary, in just a way that makes it so impactful.
The album is very cohesive, and every song, even the poetic monologue of "Not my Responsability" seems to be exactly where it's supposed to be.

twenty one pilots - Blurryface
79

Blurryface shows a step up in production and song cohesion compared to Vessel and other older projects. However, it shows a downgrade in concept and lyrical mastery. It feels like an attempt to criticize the industry while trying to infiltrate it. It results at times in songs that struggle to show the originality the band is usually able to present in lyrics that may sometimes feel infantilized or "dumbed down".
It is still a good album, and I believe it most times conquers its ... read more

twenty one pilots - Vessel
82

Vessel is the most indie Twenty One Pilots has ever been. It definetly has marks of the past in production that did not age well. Still, it brings me nostalgic feelings, since I listened to it in 2015 and it has some of the best lyrics they've ever come up with (shoutout to Car Radio and Migraine). I like the celestial/religious metaphors and Tyler is one of the few religious people I actually am able to listen and relate to.
It does repeat not that interesting lines a bit too much and too ... read more

twenty one pilots - Scaled and Icy
74

I am well aware that the album is supposed to have a generic pop feel, but I just feel like at times Twenty One Pilots don't make it intentionally generic on this album; rather, they seem to accidentally fall into just straight uninteresting tracks. When given elements to instigate us or to suggest something's off, the album comes up with some of my personal favorite songs from the band (such as "The Outside" and "Redecorate"). However, the "governmental ... read more

Conan Gray - Superache
84

I am well aware some of these songs on here are not for everyone, being a bit too generic and repetitive at times, such as in "Best Friend" and in "Disaster". The fact is, even while being generic catchy pop, Conan still somehow manages to put his personality into it. I admire that. As a matter of fact, Conan seems to constantly drift from dull lyrics to really profound and creative ones. He also manages to make for really satisfying build-ups to the chorus and ressucitates ... read more

twenty one pilots - Trench
91

This album is incredibly well put together and well produced; it gives me chills throughout. I feel like the lore Tyler has created, of this city that glorifies suicide, makes for perfect metaphors that render the songs incredibly relatable, all the while maintaining personality and originality. Even in its weakest tracks, like "Neon Gravestones," it still possesses elements to pinpoint and admire.

The Strokes - The New Abnormal
100

This would definetely be the soundtrack for a movie about my life. It has all the elements I like in songs that I don't feel like anyone could argue are objectively bad. It's clearly well thought-out. I wish I'd be able to make good songs like this when I'm drunk. The New Abnormal borrows interesting sounds and samples from different sononical backgrounds and mixes them all in what I'd describe as the best alternative rock tracks I've ever heard. One could say that some songs are dragged into ... read more

twenty one pilots - Overcompensate
85

It seems like a pleasant mix up of all the right things twenty one pilots has done in Trench. It misses out on momentum for the chorus, but it's interesting nonetheless.
