The debut album by producer, singer, and songwriter, Levi Malachi, showcases Levi's ability to produce and write amazing songs despite having no experience playing any instrument, little experience producing music, and little experience writing songs. All of this considered, this is an absolutely stellar project for Levi and he should be proud of what he has made. Levi's lyrics translate as heart-felt and genuine. You can hear the pain in his voice when he sings, especially on tracks such as, ... read more
While I don't think this Kanye's best work and despite the fact that I have not listened to any Kid Cudi yet, I still think this absolutely fantastic. Every song is psychedelic, fun, multi-faceted and just over all amazing. I can't pick a single verse I dislike, the production is off the wall crazy, and the chemistry between Cudi and Ye is unmatched. Cudi's gorgeous harmonies paired with the insane production all over this make it feel full and wide like I'm looking into the deepest chasms of ... read more
Fleet Foxes self-titled is one of my favourite albums ever so coming into this I knew that it would be a difficult a task to best it. I think this thought process led me to almost dislike this when I first heard it? I wanted the same feel and vibe as that album and this one was going for something a bit more different which lead me to kinda shut down on it in a way. I listened to it, felt disappointed aside from a few other tracks and then moved on. However, upon returning to it multiple times ... read more
I think this is still easily Coldplay's best album. An absolutely INCREDIBLE debut that is beautifully optimistic, sad, hopeful and nostalgic. I really really enjoy listening to this front to back because every song feels so complete and full even on the quieter more stripped back cuts. Even though Coldplay does wear their influences on their sleeves a bit I don't think it gets in the way of the listening experience. This album feels like a road trip and I don't know why. I feel incredibly safe ... read more
There's A LOT of talent here that feels like it isn't being fully pushed to what Phoebe is capable of. That being said though, the writing, production, singing and mixing all over this album is still top-notch. Although she definitely bested herself and pushed her abilities to the max on Punisher, this is still a great album. I love almost every song and I think that the feeling Phoebe presents of feeling distant and emotionless (like a ghost) translates very well over every song. The sound of ... read more
If liking Radiohead too much was a contest I would come 1st place. Okay probably not first cause y'all can be kinda weird, but I would be up there for sure. This is such a great precursor to OK Computer and honestly and INSANE follow up to the mess that was Pablo Honey. Every listen reveals more and more about this album that makes me love it more. I didn't get why it was called "The Bends" until I realised the entire album is about how Radiohead has come up out of the metaphorical ... read more
I REALLY wanted to like this. I remember this being THE album my parents would listen to when I was kid. Also I have friends who really enjoy Owl City's music so I wanted to enjoy it for them. The first song "Cave In" gave me hope that despite the sickeningly sweet sound of this albums synth-based production and lyrical focus, we could get a fun and nostalgic experience that actually featured some pretty great tracks. However, as I went along I kept finding myself taking big issues ... read more
I was gonna write some dumb joke for this review but I genuinely think what Dev has produced here is genuinely amazing. I really enjoy every track here and I think they all stand as great bodies of work. Dev's vocals are gorgeous, her lyrics are crushing, the production is amazing and it all meshes so well. Only thing I take issue with is that some songs feel like they could be taken even further and pushed more. Also Dizzy Vision is okay but not as great the rest of the songs here, I just ... read more
This album is extremely addicting. There' something about the glitchy and maximalist production mixed with Brakence's absolutely GORGEOUS vocals that just force me to play this album on repeat. Every song on here is absolutely packed with some insane cutting-edge production. I genuinely think what Brakence is doing here is going to be the future of what a lot of new artists coming up will sound like. It feels like we're witnessing the creation of some new genre that's going to be HUGE. ... read more
This was one of the first albums that really got me into music. I really really enjoy this album, but guys, it's not as good as a lot of y'all are making it seem. I think everyone who calls this a 10/10 needs to listen to more music to be honest. Yes, it's very very good but there are a handful of forgettable and skippable tracks. There are too many strange interlude tracks and a lot of strange moments that don't fit this track list. Let It Happen may be one of the best songs I've ever heard ... read more
I really wish this was as good as her debut but it just isn't (for me). I like a good handful of songs on this, but that's kind of it? This doesn't feel cohesive or like a full experience which is what I really loved about When We All Fall Asleep. I know this is supposed to be Billie kind of flipping that album on its head, (you don't have to go much further than looking at the two album covers to figure that out lmao) and although this could have worked, I feel like Billie and Finneas just ... read more
This remains (in my opinion) Billie Eillsh's best work to date even with the release of Happier Than Ever. There are a lot of songs on Happier Than Ever that I enjoy, but this as a full experience feels so much more satisfying and cohesive. Sonically, lyrically, and the overall feel of this album feels so well thought out and executed. It feels dark and edgy without feeling like it loses any of its sincerity or power. It's so easy to create an album like this and make it sound cringe but ... read more
This album is so overplayed for me so I hardly ever return to it but man this thing is an amazing piece of work. Smooth instrumentals, vocals, lyrics, smooth everything really. There isn't really anything to dislike here to be honest. This is just a really really great album that I think will be loved on for a very VERY long time to come. I feel like this review should be longer but that's literally all I have to say lmao. Good job silky boys! 9/10
A lot of this to me just sounds like generic, board-room music to be played in Bed, Bath and Beyond stores. However, I did enjoy a handful of tracks here. Songs like, "Late Night Talking" and "As It Was" have killer hooks and great production and songs like "Matilda" feature Harry's ability to genuinely write impactful songs. That being said, "Music For A Sushi Restaurant" and "Daydreaming" actually sound like Youtube ad music and I can't get ... read more
When I tell you I was not ready for how much I was going to enjoy this project I mean it. I seriously was expecting this to be average/mid but I honestly absolutely loved this. I got emotional at most of the songs here. Olivia's beautiful and emotion packed vocals and heart-wrenching lyrics and killer production actually made me feel how upset she clearly was about the relationship and break-up this whole album is based on. Part of this is probably because I'm in Olivia's teenage/Gen Z target ... read more
Okay so everyone knows this album is like literally perfect already so here's my version of the story for it in brief detail:
Everything In Its Right Place: The first ever synthetic/motherless child is born.
Kid A: The child walks around learning how to talk and interact with the world around it. It see's everything as very beautiful as it is young and innocent.
The National Anthem: The child's innocence and sense of wonder is instantly ripped away from it as it realises its surroundings and ... read more
Mannnnnnnn this album is so good. Every song on here is so much fun and packed with so much raw passion and energy. Every band member presents their own moment to shine and everyone has their own amazing verse. It feels like this did such a good job at establishing who BROCKHAMPTON is as well as their now legendary and influential style. Amazing beats on every single track here and like I said every track has it's own flavour because each features amazing verses from varying members. This album ... read more
I was hoping to enjoy this album more than this but even with multiple listens I still think there's something left to be desired about a lot of the tracks here. I will admit I haven't heard any of Lucy Dacus' or Julien Baker's other music though I do feel as though they bring some of my favourite moments here. However, I have listened to all of Phoebe's solo work and I've gotta say this feels like Pheobe only putting in 75%. Everyone's vocals here are obviously amazing and their chemistry is ... read more
Much like "Ants From Up There" by Black Country, New Road, this album went from an album I didn't get and didn't enjoy to one of my favourite albums ever. I swear I tried to get into this album like 4 different times before it actually clicked and I got it. The production here is seriously something else. Laser-sharp precision, thought and care clearly went into every single song here. This paired with the futuristic, apocalyptic, glitchy and insane song structures, themes and lyrics ... read more
STOP SLEEPING ON THIS ALBUM!!!! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!! OK now that I have that out of my system - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers showcases some of Kendrick's best songwriting to date. I feel like every single song is written, performed and produced so damn well I can hardly pick anything out of any song that I dislike. This is also, in my opinion, one of Kendrick's most deceiving albums in terms of it's cohesion. Many would be quick to point out that a lot of the songs on here vary in sound ... read more
