Aside from "Section.80" I think that this is Kendrick Lamars worst project. The funny thing about this is that I still think this album is great and has some of my favourite songs ever on it. Stand out tracks like "DUCKWORTH.", "FEAR.", "FEEL.", and "PRIDE." are really what makes this album so great. Kendrick experiments with new sounds that are more contemporary and for the most part succeeds with flying colours (as he does with everything he ... read more
This is what I like to call an absolute beast of an album. Filled to the brim with amazing verses, production, themes, ideas and creativity, Kendrick Lamar cements himself as one of the all time greats. This concept is so amazing and people really aren't joking when they say it's a movie - when Kendrick said "Painting pictures put me in the Louvre" on MMATBS, I thought of this album. This thing is just so so so so so solid and incredibly impressive. Very few people can pull off an ... read more
This thing is so fun and enjoyable. So much talent is on display here it's actually insane. Peggy's production paired with Danny Brown's witty and hilarious lyrics as well some stellar verses from Peggy himself make for an incredibly enjoyable album front to back. I had high-ass expectations for this and was STILL blown away. I think a few tracks here don't feel exactly like Peggy or Danny's best performances but even when this is the case they put on a damn good show still. So many fantastic ... read more
Like "American Football (LP1)" this album for me is amazing because of the memories I have tied to it (never thought I would make a comparison about Peggy to American Football yet here we are.) I first listened to this album on a day where I was in a new city, by myself, walking around trying to find things to do. I played it pretty much on repeat for the entire 7 hours I walked around. It was also the first album I listened to after asking my girlfriend out which was kinda cool. This ... read more
I know that the whole point of this album is that it's supposed to be like you're watching Frank-TV but I feel like this album still feels a tad too scatter-shot for me. I feel like the whole channel idea could have been delved into further and deeper rather than Frank simply making great songs that don't connect and guising it under the impression of a TV changing channel. That being said it may seem like I hate this album. I do not. In fact quite the contrary. Despite a couple songs on here ... read more
I really, really, REALLY, want to give this a 10/10 but I just can't do it. Despite this album being one of my favourites ever it still feels like it has it's flaws that I just can't look past when returning to it in full. Don't get me wrong songs like, "Ivy", "Nights", "Self Control", "Seigfried", and "White Ferrari" are some of my favourite songs EVER and I love them to death and probably always will - I mean I have a damn poster hung up in my ... read more
Listening to this album takes me through so many emotions and so many memories. Each song for me has some beautifully fun memory or feeling attached to it. The angsty (yet beautiful) teen sound of this entire album was literally perfect for me at the time that I listened to this. It feels like I'm playing on a playground at sunset with all my friends. I just have so many great memories attached to this album. Wether that be listening to it on repeat across New Years in Australia 2022 or just ... read more
HEYYYYYYYYYYY MAAANNNNNN SLOWWWWW DOWNNNNNNNNNN. IDDDIIOOTTTT SLOWWW DOWNNNNNNNN. SLOW DOOOoooOOOOooooWWWnnnn. (guitar solo). 10/10
Little Simz never fails to absolutely blow my mind into a million tiny little pieces. This album is truly a different breed of "good" music. It boggles me that someone could be able to make a project with consistently some of the best lyrics, production, themes, ideas, creative moments and flow that I have ever seen from not only a hip-hop artist, but just an artist in general. This album truly transcends any label you could try and use to pin it down with. Relentless passion and love ... read more
It's insanity that this is the only studio album that Ms. Lauryn Hill ever released. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is a project that only someone with intense talent, cultural awareness, and skill could create. This is one of the most impressive displays of vocal ability and song writing ever. Wether it be Lauryn's incredibly well written rap verses or her more melodic sections on the album, everything Lauryn touches is instantly catchy, fun, meaningful and profound in a way that isn't ... read more
When I first listened to this album I got absolutely nothing out of it. In fact, I DISliked it. Mostly because of Isaac Wood's very dramatic and theatre-like spoken word-esque vocals paired with at times jarring and confusing instrumental choices. It wasn't until about a year after I gave this thing a shot that I decided to return to it. I think a mix of having more music knowledge and a more extended taste in music really helped me connect to this project. It felt like I was listening to an ... read more
I feel very generic having multiple Radiohead albums as 100's but I can't give this album any other score without straight up lying. 10/10
The talent and potential that Phoebe presented to fans on "Stranger In The Alps" is taken to %115 on this album and manages to create an incredibly mystical and spacious cohesive sound that is paired with beautifully haunting writing to make an album that makes you feel like a angsty 20-something in a skeleton costume staring up at the night sky above you in some place far away from any other people. Punisher begins incredibly strong, continues to hold up its pace through the middle, ... read more
Guys can I pleeeaaassseee give Wesley's Theory a 110 pleeeeeaaaaasseeeee. 10/10
Quadeca's evolution as an artist has been one of the most interesting things to follow. From corny Youtube rapper to avant-garde and crushingly beautiful musical mastermind. This album is amazing. Simply put this album feels unique. Like nothing I've ever heard. One main criticism I've heard from this album is "Oh it sounds like this, oh it sounds like that. He's so clearly borrowing from other artists." However, although I feel as though certain segments and parts do feel as though ... read more
This is one of the best debut LP's I have heard from any artists in recent memory. Fleet Foxes manages to create senses of wonder and nostalgia that hit like giant waves crashing into you so hard that it sends you into a different dimension/era full of beauty, chaos, and mind swirling moments that are impossible to forget. This album simultaneously manages to create entire forests, fields, old wooden buildings, and deeply beautiful imagery whilst also not feeling corny or like things are being ... read more
