Mick Gordon could fart and it would righteously win best soundtrack. Perfect soundtrack for a game like Doom Eternal. Shame literally every streaming service can't stomach the idea of people hearing it.
Making A Door Less Open reaches territory that Car Seat Headrest hasn't quite crossed before, on certain tracks like Hollywood, Life Worth Missing, and Famous. However, for as far as this album goes with it's quality (and I think it's a good album), it doesn't reach the same heights as previous CSH projects like Twin Fantasy, Teens Of Denial, or Nervous Young Man.
I sometimes think I give this album too much credit, but I know that in the grand scheme of things, I really don’t. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea is one of the greatest albums ever made, not just within the indie rock genre, but I think music as a whole. Within Neutral Milk Hotel’s incredibly short, but consistent discography, this was their magnum opus. Whether it’s the fast, frantic pace of Holland 1945, the mellow feeling of Two Headed Boy Pt 2, the nostalgic novelty of ... read more
Even despite it’s length, Nervous Young Man is a great CSH that marks an important shift in the band’s career, and also serves as a nice look into the psyche of Will Toledo two years after the original Twin Fantasy’s release.
“Mom, can we have Lil Peep?”
“We have Lil Peep at home”
Lil Peep at home:
I can safely say that Deathconsciousness is a 100 in my book. It's one of the gloomiest, most depressing albums I've ever heard, and is essentially like being choked with barbed wire for 1 Hour And 24 Minutes, the final 5 minutes of that album are just as hopeless as they are beautiful. I'd highly recommend it at the condition that you brace for impact.
The world would be a much better place if Tom MacDonald never became a rapper.
This album would probably be an 80something, or even a 90something if every track wasn't so fucking long. This album is 2 hours and should not be that long. The beats are phenomenal, but I think a lot of the lyrics are really uninteresting. Me Against The World is a far better 2Pac album.
My personal favorite album of 2020. Code Orange continues to evolve and keep getting better with each and every album. Ever since LIL/RTD, and with their fourth album Underneath, they continue to push the envelope.
Absolutely spectacular album. With Teens Of Denial , Will Toledo and co. help reinvent Car Seat Headrest's signature sound with a really great album with some amazing tracks like Destroyed By Hippie Powers, Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales, Fill In The Blank, and a lot of the sound that would foreshadow the sound on the 2018 remake of Twin Fantasy. Highly recommend listening to it.
The Bends, released in 1995, is Radiohead's second album after their 1992 debut release "Pablo Honey", which featured their breakout hit Creep which catapulted them into massive mainstream success. It builds on the sound that Pablo Honey introduced, which as I mentioned in my Pablo Honey review, is a sound Radiohead has grown out of by now. This album is a significant improvement upon it's predecessor, but it still maintains the old, now outgrown sound that makes The Bends a product ... read more
This album is essentially Kanye bathing in the status that he had attained for MBDTF and it's really nice to listen to. Songs like Black Skinhead, and Guilt Trip are fantastic, it took a few listens over the years to grow on me, but I think I can come to the safe conclusion that Yeezus is a fantastic album.
I couldn't believe my ears when I discovered this was MCAP. The mixing is a little shite, but the lyrical content is nice for what's worth, as well as his vocal talent, which I find rather ironic. It's insane to me that this is the same kid that made Mine Oddity, but I'd be lying through my teeth if I didn't say I was super proud of how far he's come.
Pablo Honey and Radiohead fans have a weird relationship. For me (I'm a Radiohead cuckshill, so take this with a grain of salt), I don't personally think the band has ever made a bad album, but this is probably the closest thing they've come to it, but that's not to say I would lay that fault on the album itself. When Radiohead made Pablo Honey in 1992, it was their first album, and they had no idea how far they would go with albums like OK Computer, Kid A, In Rainbows, etc. and while all of ... read more
For a debut album, especially for someone like the legacy that Kanye has, The College Dropout is a spectacular record with a surprising amount of substance to it.
For a debut album, especially for a group like Death Grips, this is really well done. It's accessible, it doesn't have nearly as much experimental shit as any of their other albums, but it's still great, and their sound and instrumentals are really at their A-game here. It's my favorite DG album, personally.
Dave Grohl is so cool, and this album is too, but not just because Dave Grohl is, but also because it sounds good and is probably top 3 FF albums.
Best rap album of 2020 I think. My favorite tracks included Holy Calamafuck and JU$T.
Atrocity Exhibition is one of the greatest experimental hip-hop albums not just of the past 10 years, but I personally think even maybe of all time. It's certainly one of my personal favorites. Tracks like Ain't It Funny which cover substance use, and the stigma of mental illness, as well as songs like Lost, and Dance In The Water experiment with this 90's east coast sound, which would be staple to someone like Biggie or Nas, it's a great album, I highly recommend it.
