I'm probably a bit biased, because of many reasons. It could be the 8th grader in me, or the Green Day fan in me, but American Idiot is a legendary album that holds an incredibly special place in my heart for so many reasons. Songs like Holiday, Whatsername, Wake Me Up When September Ends, and of course Boulevard Of Broken Dreams are all classics, as well as the more underappreciated tracks like Give Me Novacaine, or St Jimmy. It may be a product of it's time due to how politically charged it ... read more
The mixing is at it's best on this album compared to his other shit, but just like your typical X album, it's really shallow, and comes off as fake-deep. I don't like X's music, nor X as a person, so I'm probably just a tad biased, but you can find better emo rap albums in things like Come Over When You're Sober Pt 1, and basically anything Josh A, or Juice have made.
As my first impression of Ghostmane, I listened to this album with a friend a couple months ago, and wasn't impressed. I relistened to it to see if my opinion would be any different. It wasn't. Ghostmane has this really weird shift between dark trap, and black metal and can't decide whether he wants to look like Marilyn Manson, or fucking Tom MacDonald. It's all shock and no substance. The first track is alright, but it's all downhill from there.
This was the first Daughters album in 8 years, and it was completely worth it. The eerie atmosphere on literally every single song is enough to send tingles down my spine. Absolutely brilliant album, one of my favorites of all time, even if it is fucking terrifying.
The album sounds pretty good, apart from some of the worst flows I've ever heard from Eminem's entire discography on songs like Venom, and Stepping Stone, but the lyrical content for nearly every single song boils down to "new rap bad, mumble rap bad" whereas for as much shit as he talks, I don't think Eminem has made something I could actually consider to be fantastic since The Eminem Show.
This album's marketing campaign, and singles were already bad enough, but the album was arguably even worse. It had been four years since Revolution Radio came out, and I was really excited to hear new Green Day. Needless to say, the singles were all bad, and the album itself disappoints me even more.
In conclusion, fuck this stupid piece of shit.
Neat little 20 minute album. Combines elements of folk rock with some indie, and classic rock feel. Frog has this nice throwback classic rock aura to them, and I don't think they get nearly enough attention, or praise for it.
