KEEP THEM IN THE STUDIO, THEY STILL GOT IT. 🥹
Boards Of Canada come back with an absolutely astonishing, well put-together, and amazingly psychedelic experience. Every song on here keeps the core identity of the base that BOC has built for their music, and it just sounds so intriguing.
Overall, Inferno landed very well as a comeback album, and in my opinion, is better than their previous album, Tomorrow’s Harvest.
Loved the atmosphere and soundscape of this album! Definitely worth the listen.
Most chill stuff I’ve listened to in a while. Definitely the most relaxing BOC work. It wouldve been so cool to see this as an album.
This EP isn’t that bad and includes great tracks. Not much to say. Just BOC being casual great BOC.
Probably my least favorite of the BOC albums, but still very much worth a listen.
Absolute ethereal album from BOC and definitely my favorite! The guitars work so well and the drums are amazing.
Isok. You can hear them start to gain their style but it hasn’t quite reached its zenith yet.
Downright amazing, legendary album in electronic music. I love every track in here. No misses, hits the nostalgia description perfectly. Not the best thing you’ll ever listen to but still legendary.
Amazing album, mezmerized from start to finish. Much…like MUCH more dark than MHTRTC.
Venetian Snares at his loudest form, from what I've heard so far. Tracks can go from straight up noise to speedcore. I enjoyed it!
Giving this a 55 only because the noise itself wasn't really special to me. I loved the drums throughout though. Probably my least favorite from what I've listened to so far. Again, the drums are amazing.
I really, REALLY liked this. Definitely a more rhythmic release from Merzbow and one I'd recommend people who want to listen to noise. It's a very good gateway album into noise, containing rhythmic sections and calmer sections, however sometimes it reaches the climax of the song with the harsh noise stuff.
Favorite Track: The Africa Brass Session, Vol. 2
Managed to keep me interested for 20 minutes!
Least Favorite Track: Intro
Has the least substance out of any other track.
Okay, so, before I review this record, I want to give my idea on what harsh noise is and how I listen to it and perceive it.
Harsh noise to me is the rejection of rules in music, sort of rebellious in a way. You can definitely tell the difference between a good and bad harsh noise track. A bad harsh noise track will have much less textured...well...NOISE. If you know what I mean, you know what I mean.
I usually listen to harsh noise with the volume slightly turned down, and while doing ... read more
I LOVE this album. I’ll definitely have to listen to other Squarepusher releases after this one.
The opening track, “Hello Meow,” is amazing. I love the almost playful melodies presented throughout, and the kickass bass solo.
Welcome to Europe is also amazing, drum programming is excellent. Speaking of amazing drum programming, Planetarium has got your back if that’s what you’re looking for. The Modern Bass Guitar is much more noisy, but welcomed because the drum ... read more
