Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head

When I reviewed Parachutes I mentioned how it was very cozy and intimate project that felt much different than any current Coldplay albums. However I believe this album is the beginning of what would begin to be known as the 'Coldplay sound'. In my opinion it might just be the definitive Coldplay album

Just comparing the cover of this to their debut, you can instantly tell the difference. Unlike the warm Parachutes cover, Rush of Blood feels cold and distant, much like the songs ... read more

Coldplay - Parachutes

Going into this I really wasn't sure what to expect. Of course I've heard of Coldplay before (Afterall I am a human being on planet Earth) but I feel like there's always something that's prevented me from really delving deep into their music. Perhaps it's how overplayed songs like 'Yellow' and 'Sparks' are, or maybe it was how much hate the band seems to get nowadays. Regardless I've always felt his stigma around Coldplay, so when I finally did ... read more

Much like the cover itself, this album gives the feeling of an old class field trip or looking through old family photos taken on disposable cameras. Such as great mix of low, almost somber like ambient tracks juxtaposed with more rhythmic songs with swirling drums in the background which makes for such great music for studying.

Oliver Tree - Ugly is Beautiful
77

I remember there was a certain point, after the release of "Life Goes On" I believe, where Oliver Tree went from being an exciting up-and-comer, to a laughing stock. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised, after all the trope of a rising star becoming flanderized and shoved in people's throats to the point of nausea is all too common in this modern age of internet music. And to be fair it didn't help that the song in question happened to be incredibly obnoxious, carrying the ... read more
