Kenny delivers some various beats, voices and flows - but it doesn't really reach me. Many tracks are not catchy enough to get stuck in my mind.

I can both see a 100 and 6 from Fantano. Yes, MBDTF has some incredible bangers with perfect production. But some others songs are just boring and way too long. That epic atmosphere one can here through the entire album is hurting my ears after some time.
A lot of people say to be a real music fan, you need to listen to different genres of music and actually enjoy them, not just one. I agree. But this means that I am no real music fan since I mainly listen to only one genre: Hip-Hop. Well, J Dilla's Donuts is not even far away from rap. Basically, only the rapping is missing.
As you can see by my score, I was sadly not able to enjoy this LP. I feel like all the beats sound the same, what makes it so boring. I know they don't sound the ... read more
21 Savage is quite uninteresting as an artist, honestly.
But I love that feature from da goat J Cole.
Very sad. I feel like Pusha T has a lot of potential, I think he released some good singles and features. But unfortunately, I don't like his solo projects. Pusha uses almost the same flow for every track and he talks mostly about drugs. I had high hopes for the production (Ye vs. Pharrell, yk), but got dissapointed aswell. Excluding Dreaming Of The Past, it was pretty boring and didn't push Pusha's raps to another level.
While Lupe Fiasco is a great lyricist and has a great flow, the beats he's using on this LP are not catchy enough for me and lack real highlights.
'Let God Sort Em Out' is a very energetic record - Malice and Pusha T both have good performances and sound hungry despite the fact that they both are (almost) 50. However, flows aswell as production are quiet repetetive or even a bit boring so I can't really see why this is aoty 2025 although it's a good record.
Black Thought is a great rapper and lyricist, plus he never loses his energy throughout the songs, but the beats he's rapping over cannot keep up with this level. In comparison with Cheat Codes, the production sounds like made in a minute.
I mean it's not the best track I've heard from them but I'm hyped for Cheat Codes 2 anyway.
I know it is not a real hot take and many people share this opinion, but I gonna say it anyway: Late Registration is so much better than The College Dropout. It's more consistent, the best songs are better on LR, Kanye's music sounds just more develloped. My favourite track is Diamonds from Sierra Leone by far, my least favourite are Touch the Sky and We Major, funny because these are the best rated on this website, but I think the production and hook of both of them is kind of ugly.
'The College Dropout' is a beautifully produced and revolutionary debut LP. Nevertheless, it is overrated. Listen, I am no Kanye hater, but some of the tracks are just too boring (and too much annoying skits) to call this the best Kanye album for me. I am not a real fan of Chipmunk Soul either.
Best Track: Jesus Walks
Dawg, that was Mobb Deep? Where was that East Coast energy and gangsta mindset? The LP sounded like a cat version of the duo, not a tiger one. Neither the beats or flows brought that dark, sharp and energetic atmosphere from The Infamous and Hell on Earth back, although Havoc is an underrated MC. RIP Prodigy, you are missing!
It's not like I hate Lil Wayne (that would be not objective), but there are just so many things I don't like about Weezy: He has straight up an ugly voice (sorry), his flow sounds like from someone else and is f*cking boring, his lyrics... idk man for the biggest part of the songs I can only hear N*gga, P*ssy and B*tch. I'm sure Lil Wayne is able to spit some decent bars, but I just don't get it.
Ok now the beat selection is tricky for me aswell. Some of the pop rap ... read more
Drak can rap, Drak can produce a beat, Drak can sing a bit - but it gets boring after an hour. 'Iceman' is, unfortunately, not his experimental opus and lacks creativity and some inspired stuff. The songs sound so damn the same I wonder if it's the same beat every time. Really, Mister Graham? All that hype for that? And two other ... interesting sounding albums which I am NOT gonna listen to.
"Be gleeful everyday, for bein' the best swimmer among 500,000"
Thank you I needed this
Ok now for the actual review, 'Be' is a super positive and warm LP, both Common and Ye pass the vibe check. However, I need to criticize some things aswell:
- Common performances are mostly similar to each other and weren't that energetic or atleast not enough for me
- Production was beautiful at its core, but it lacked some real variety. The beat of 'It's Your ... read more
For a 20 year old Jermaine Cole, this is not bad. You can clearly hear he tries to find his style and beats which fit him the most. Quality of both rapping and production lacks sometimes, but there are some bangers nevertheless (Little Ghetto N. f. e., great instrumentals). The Come-Up is a very impressive mixtape as debut and is an omen for J Cole's future.
