Ana Frango Elétrico - Little Electric Chicken Heart
91

So many layers happening so quickly each consecutive listen through the record reveals something you missed the first time because you had the audacity to blink! Unlike anything you have ever heard, and yet comprised of so many elements which feel so extremely familiar, an album which makes the most of music, this album is the embodiment of “translation through speakers” anyone from any culture anywhere in the world can get behind a project like this.

Sawyer Hill - Heartbreak Hysteria
51

Sawyer hill Keeps it short and sweet, in this generic pop project, where he shows proficiency in multiple adjacent genres, sonically this album never strays from something you would hear on Iheartradio, and the sentiment is pathetically generic, the deepest this album gets is that he gets “high on (his) lows”, do you see what he did there, he gets HIGH on his LOWS seriously generic, but broadly inoffensive

Perfume Genius - Glory
72

After the lead in single was released it was reasonable to assume this album would be leap forward, but much on the contrary, this album not only did not see any sort of step forward, but in fact, a Step back for Mike Hadreas, who appears afraid of risking deviation from his normal formula, however the message on this remains powerful Music that is important in This time and is sure to connect with members of the queer community

Self Esteem - A Complicated Woman
0

As a liberal, this…. This is just not it. The people who are out here really fighting for these important causes can’t and won’t be taken seriously when this shit is being put out there.

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs - Death Hilarious
78

Death Hilarious will be right up the alley of anyone who considers themself a fan of stoner metal, while a little bit stereotypical, Sam Grant and company keep it consistent with another album which, while not perfect, exudes character. Grant and Sykes come through with some of the best strings of any album in 2025.

Will Stratton - Points of Origin
80

A tightly produced album which experiments more with the indie folk sound than one might expect, the saxophones on the back half of “bardo or heaven” are sure to remind listeners of Richard Dawsons body of work, but at its core its just Will signing from his heart, which is a formula that is tried and true. Never overbearing or campy, Stratton keeps it clean clear and real.

Viagra Boys - viagr aboys
98

This album is crazy descent into industrial punk, madness, with its insane storytelling, and incredible flow paints pictures of a dirty, perverted, lonely man who is seeing all the thoughts that he never spoke out loud flash before his eyes in his last moments, and the occasional break of simple beauty tethers us back to reality. an incredible record

Deafheaven - Lonely People With Power
90

Deafheaven comes through on lonely people with power satisfying long time fans, as they continue to secure their place amongst the greats, with their unique style of screamo, mixed with electronic instrumentation, but with a couple of bland features, and a lack of diversity, it’s unlikely to win over any who weren’t fans of their previous work

Coyote Theory - Still
60

Coyote theory come through with another set of boppable pop tracks, which are broadly inoffensive, but fans are certainly disappointed after the long wait, Coyote theory reveals themselves to be a one hit wonder. Failing to live up to the hype they established with their earlier works.

Stick To Your Guns - Keep Planting Flowers
40

An album which fundamentally misunderstands the appeal of the genre, this doesn’t inspire, but may be worth a quick laugh.

Antony Szmierek - Service Station At The End Of The Universe
80

Antony Szmerik opens up his heart with beautiful poetry which is meaningful as it is captivating.

Destroyer - Dan's Boogie
86

Dans boogie is more than a psychedelic rock album, it is a masterclass in the connection between composition and storytelling. The arrangements could tell the stories all on their own. Jam packed with diverse ephemeral layers which leave the listener feeling like they’re walking through a forgotten memory.

Steven Wilson - The Overview
70

Stephen Wilson is still a talented producer and musician, and there are parts of this album which stand out in a real way, but this albums upside is limited by cringeworthy space rock tropes

My Morning Jacket - is
80

This project is akin to Mike Shannahan’s stint as Indiana Offensive coordinator, those who were at the forefront of innovation and creation in this scene now find themselves in a world where their style is mainstream. They bring a unique style using a contemporary pallet in their 90s songwriting. The result is a very interesting album, which is universally accessible.

Bon Iver - SABLE, fABLE
80

Boom Iver brings more of what he’s great at, the features on this album shine bright in a project that is nothing if not consistent. A brighter album, Vernon writing what he wants to, and still doing it well.

Divorce - Drive to Goldenhammer
83

Divorce comes through with a project that will leave you dumbfounded at the fact that they have not been making music for decades, a consistently unique album which stands out amongst the crowd, with so many unique ideas, you can’t blame anyone for saying this is the debut album of the year. Don’t bat an eye when these bright musicians write the album of the year in 2028

Doves - Constellations for the Lonely
91

In their second album since their reunion in 2020 Doves is nothing if not consistent, they take a confident step within their lane. While this project by no means explores the limits of what the britpop genre is capable of, it’s a beloved formula by many who will continue to praise their genius.

Spiritbox - Tsunami Sea
83

Even detractors of this metal subgenre will gawk in awe of this work of art. Courtney Laplante and company have created yet another truly special work. In a truly masterful balancing act, combines heavy metal with elements of alternative Pop and Rock to create a stellar atmosphere. Expect to be dancing through the pain.

Mogwai - The Bad Fire
90

Space Rock is a genre often plagued by faux-grandiose pretentious techno babble, but here Mogwai show their experience with a tight knit accessible project which avoids the pitfalls of the genre, while not abandoning the sonic depth and beauty of the sound. An album which aims for far off galaxies, but teaches the listener lessons they can learn right here on earth, if they allow it to.

Horsegirl - Phonetics On and On
91

If you’ve heard the hits, you might assume this is another generic introvert guitar album, but take a closer look and you’ll find anthem after anthem, beautiful Lofi ballads, which will make you Crack, a smile and cry in the same movement

On Raci3r's review of James Blake - Trying Times
"No beef, but it’s so so so gut wrenching and disappointing to see people talk about James Blake and say “the Frank ocean style of music”. If you google “artists that James Blake influenced” Frank ocean will be on that list. James Blake broke onto the scene in BBC sound of the summer in 2010 and his debut Pioneered the style of electronic R&B, I would highly recommend listening to his self titled which is better than Channel Orange."

"@steffyy Absolutely! Right now I’m listening to Fetch by Melt-Bananna off of your favorites list, elite find. So thank you for that."
On Desenkton's review of Jerkcurb - Night Fishing On A Calm Lake
"Hey! I saw your review of both Air Con Eden and this new record and I agree that these are underrated and underestimated works, that being said, 100 and 95 is a little rich for my blood lol, I’m working through these and am curious what you’re listening for and hearing in these albums that set them a tier above. These albums reminded me really strongly of super ambient post punk revival stuff (Something like The Twilight Sads: “Nobody wants to be here and nobody wants to leave”) But it’s more laid back pop than rock."
