Dove Ellis - Blizzard
84

I was promised Jeff Buckley, and I was sort of let down. Kind of a testament to him that this album is an 8.46.

Tim Buckley - Starsailor
100

He wants to be Geordie Greep so bad

Agriculture - The Spiritual Sound
99

Lets be real, People who hate themselves won’t like this because it’s very catchy, and people who’ll appreciate the bangers are scared off by the goblin screaming. I guess this album is for the losers somewhere in the middle. Still fire.

Yuno Miles - ALBUM
69

Features go crazy

Jerkcurb - Night Fishing On A Calm Lake
82

A compositional step forward, this isn’t predictable pop with reverb times 5000, it’s got a lot of personality and is intricately composed.

Jerkcurb - Air Con Eden
87

Listened to this in preparation for the new album and have to say this is much better than your normal dream pop ambient slop. Its percussive and dissonant at times and has a lot more texture than a lot of ambient pop.

Oneohtrix Point Never - Tranquilizer
78

Everything just feels off here, from the weird abstract ugly album cover, to the somewhat fatty track length, we see diversity in sound, but it ends up making the album hit and miss. Daniel is not what he used to be on this one. That aside this album is solid in its execution and has some fun moments.

Candelabro - Deseo, Carne y Voluntad
96

It’s literally Sufjan Stevens but Chilean and Catholic

The Orchestra (For Now) - Plan 75
85

They managed to wear a lot of hats on this 4 song EP, and challenge the very best of their London progressive contemporaries

The Orchestra (For Now) - Plan 76
88

Very strong second release, it takes a couple spins to come together but it certainly isn’t a step backwards when compared to its sister EP, they sacrifice some of their lushnesses for a little more edge on this one

Militarie Gun - God Save the Gun
64

A decent post hardcore record which builds on itself the whole way through, the occasional sample tries to convince you the record is playing with a more eclectic sample of tastes, but the music doesn’t lie, the record isn’t creative, a partial disappointment after their 2023 debut

Yellowcard - Better Days
80

First full Yellowcard Album I’ve ever listened to, I have no clue if this falls short of the standard set on ocean avenue, but just observing it for what it is, it seems like well produced catchy percussive rock, they put it over like professionals on this one.

The Antlers - Blight
86

They still got it

Hannah Frances - Nested In Tangles
87

The album sounds like Grizzly Bear mixed with the last dinner party, an exploration of all things folk, with different rock, chamber, and electronic palettes shown off throughout. While in some places it can feel like Frances can get overly ambitious and the compositions can become less intricate, and somewhat one dimensional, she more than makes up for it with the character she brings through her storytelling. A-

Toby Fox - UNDERTALE Soundtrack
88

Fantastic 8bit soundtrack, fox blossoms with his limitations.

The Happy Fits - Lovesick
69

Their best work yet, the compositions on this thing are going to be worth your time. The melodies aren’t as catchy as their previous work, and I don’t think they will ever be able of not being complete fucking cornballs who can’t write lyrics, but it is what is

Jamie Paige - BIRDBRAIN
33

Vocaloid music is gross man, it’s unfortunate that stuff like this takes away from real artists

Maruja - Pain to Power
90

Sometimes I sit awake at night, and wonder if my years of drilling different progressive experimental forms rock have spoiled my taste in music, maybe I’ll never be able to appreciate Benson Boone or Katy Perry like I could’ve when I was young.

And then I hear a record like this… and the weight of 1,000,000 6.5 reviews are lifted off my shoulders, as I ascend to higher plane of reality, and realize that I’m in the right place. These four ARE HEARING WHAT IM HEARING. ... read more

On Raci3r's review of James Blake - Trying Times
"No beef, but it’s so so so gut wrenching and disappointing to see people talk about James Blake and say “the Frank ocean style of music”. If you google “artists that James Blake influenced” Frank ocean will be on that list. James Blake broke onto the scene in BBC sound of the summer in 2010 and his debut Pioneered the style of electronic R&B, I would highly recommend listening to his self titled which is better than Channel Orange."

"@steffyy Absolutely! Right now I’m listening to Fetch by Melt-Bananna off of your favorites list, elite find. So thank you for that."
On Desenkton's review of Jerkcurb - Night Fishing On A Calm Lake
"Hey! I saw your review of both Air Con Eden and this new record and I agree that these are underrated and underestimated works, that being said, 100 and 95 is a little rich for my blood lol, I’m working through these and am curious what you’re listening for and hearing in these albums that set them a tier above. These albums reminded me really strongly of super ambient post punk revival stuff (Something like The Twilight Sads: “Nobody wants to be here and nobody wants to leave”) But it’s more laid back pop than rock."
