The best thing about this album was hands down production. I really feel like there was a sound path that they really honed in on and it worked for sure. Lyrically this album lacks exponentially. You can have a record in which every song is about sex, and it doesn’t need to be about sex in the same way every single song. It was always break the bed this, I might love you that like switch it up. Then it was switch up but on the last song. Good vocals but to be expected on and RNB project. ... read more
This album is so fun to listen to over and over again. It’s such a detailed story, and it’s a masterclass in a specific type of songwriting, one I think has parallels to Audrey Hobert’s writing, I also think this is a very flowy project. Songs can sound very different and still work very well with one another, some really fun production. Some songs sound a bit similar, and lacking a bit in depth, but there isn’t a song on this record I particularly dislike.

With what I think it’s a perfect follow up to the dreamy and in love Short n’ Sweet, Sabrina does a great job at changing her sound enough to make it feel like a different project while keeping her unique writing abilities. Shes found a way to make 80’s disco cohesive with country twang, and it works quite seamlessly. This album feels extremely personal and it sounds like a project that just happened to come along and be finished, and out of it is a very special album. ... read more
As this is a primarily Spanish project I took my time to make sure I was getting to experience all of it. I could not be more glad I made that decision because it actually told me what someone of my favorite songs are because of their incredible storytelling. This still sounds so Rosalía even though MOTOMAMI is so different from this. A fully fantastic project!
Favorites: Sexo, Violencia y Llantas, Porcelana, La Perla
I remember hearing this project for the first time and being so infatuated with it, and it still holds up. The vibe of this album is so clear to me that I can’t even explain it, she hit the world building with this one over the head.
Favorites: Girl Feels Good, Drums of Death, Sticky
This album is quite fun actually when I’m listening to it. Don’t get me wrong, some bad moments for sure. CANCELLED! Is down there with Boones “Man in Me” for worst song of the year. That being said I think Taylor has made a really fun record. Her melodies are self described as infectious and I agree. You don’t need to write folklore time and time again for your writing to still be considered good.
Favorites: Elizabeth Taylor, Opalite, Honey
I think this project had a pretty clear direction, and I appreciate that. I’d say it lost me a lot at parts that felt either repetitive, vulgar in a way that felt lazy, or really lacked uniqueness and individuality. That being said, pretty easy listen, definitely some fun songs.

When I think of this album I think of transformation. I think of the transformation of sound and writing compared to her previous works. Transformation in the albums cohesion. Transformation through the culture, and transformation of the definition “Modern Classic”. This album is one of the best pieces of work I think we’ve been gifted with as humans. This will be (I say as if it isn’t already) recognized as a classic undoubtedly.

Okay well let me say I don’t necessarily dislike the record, it’s just lacking a few things. First off, I think the songwriting has undoubtedly gotten worse. I don’t feel like this record was very cohesive and nothing much was really said. I will say she still sounds great and there wasn’t a song on here that I hated, but nothing grabbed me either. This sadly feels like a sophomore slump, especially coming off a record that feels so intimate (Snow Angel). I was really ... read more
I think what calls me to this album is mostly its atmosphere. I can sense this album better than any other album of hers. Idk if that makes any sense. This is such an obvious stand out in her discography that is already so vast and beautiful.
Favorites: Sweet, Paris, Texas, Let The Light In
This album still has its beautiful warmth it had from day one. This is the definition of a comeback, long awaited, but fully delivered. Its short length comes off a concise, and its cohesion is energetic.
Favorites: don’t wanna break up again, supernatural, imperfect for you
What this average user (and honestly critic) rating tells me is that music reviewers, whether as a career or hobby, still haven’t registered that there can be such nuances in pop music. Not only was this undoubtedly one of the most cohesive albums of last year, but alongside it being a fun pop record, it had substance. I’m not talking about Espresso and you know I’m not. Sharpest Tool, Coincidence, Lie To Girls. These are real, honest songs. This album wasn’t just big ... read more
I know Kpop is such a big thing because they do so much which makes it easier to get away with weaker songwriting. That being said it doesn’t really excuse blatantly bad songwriting, especially when you have such a massive team making the music. I enjoyed this listen, I think vocally there were some really strong, some slightly weak moments. Also I learned my bias is Nayeon, so that’s nice.

I think this album is definitely to an extent underrated. I do hear and partially agree with some critiques, but I think that some of this albums highlights are a bit overlooked. I think her vocals are so killer on this record. I love some of the production choices, I think this project was very carefully made. Possibly a bit too carefully, specially in the writing section, however It’s never horrible, maybe just a bit safe at times.
Favorites: Houdini, Whatcha Doing, Illusion
I wanted to like this album so bad! This felt so inauthentic, some songs I could tell were more personal, but for the majority of these tracks, I felt like I was listening to a filler project. Idk who mixed this, but gd it wasn’t a very good mix.
Wow. I don’t remember the last time I had this much fun listening to an album. Her artistry is generational. Her sound truly transcends time. The politics of this album, the taboo, the powerful emotion and storytelling is just so commendable.
Favorites: Express Yourself, Cherish, Act of Contrition
I was so excited for this record, because I loved The Hardest Part, her debut album. This album is just slightly less my traditional style, but it’s still so good. I think she’s placed herself in a great niche. This record was haunting, and I actually did enjoy how often she played with traditional song structure. Some songs I wish were a little more supported, or more dramatized, but I still think the final product is beautiful. Have to specifically give a shout out to that bright ... read more
For the first few songs I was like hm okay, well hopefully this picks up. I proceeded to listen to essentially 16-18 identical songs for 45 minutes. The only reason this isn’t rated worse is because he still sounds good, and the production wasn’t horrible (tolerable), as repetitive as it was. Every song lyrically was the same. Justin chose a single line to harp on and repeat for 3 minutes. The concept of this being his return to music after 4 years is mind boggling.
It was fine. I got some songs I liked out of it, the rest I’ll never return to. Not a necessary project by any means.

I don’t think this is garbage (other than Man In Me). I think knowing how little time it took to make this album, it tell me that Benson actually has a lot of potential to make good music, if he’s a little more careful and takes time to actually craft. The way I can describe this album is a bit Black Mirrory. I feel like the general public was just told that this is the pop star and the pop album you get, so enjoy it. It feels like he was convinced into too. This album misses and ... read more
